These Massachusetts dudes made arguably the best album of 2014 and they've begun ramping up to their new one, Goodness, which is scheduled for release in May.

They are great and interesting and deserve their own thread wherein we shall anticipate, discuss, dissect, praise, etc.

spoilers: goodness is excellent and i expect it'll get even more enthusiastic reviews than home

I've been listening to the new album nonstop

It's incredible just how *easily listenable* it is. Like, I love it, but it flies by me, and not necessarily in a bad way. It's just, like, I'm loving it, loving it, every second, and before I know it it has flipped back around to track 01.

I don't know if it's better than Home Is Like Noplace or not. It might be. But 20ish listens in, I wonder if it's going to be better, just not as impactful to me.

This is a fucking terrific album, tho.

of course it gets better for me with every listen, and i've had it since february. and i was initially kinda disappointed!

Home had more bite and was just one ripper after another. This one sort of takes its time and makes you feel comfortable. Different things.

"Soft Animal" is a top 10 song of the year for me.

Goodness is one of my default gym albums, and it's pretty perfect for workouts except for 1. the grandma song that I have to skip and 2. the part where I nearly sob during "Soft Animal." That song still guts me.
