Drawing bored

Mark G, Monday, 21 March 2016 16:49 (ten years ago)

i read somewhere that Niagra from Destroy All Monsters said that only after Iggy saw them playing their song did he rush off and record his own song about same thing but i dont know if anyone can have a mortgage on a universally experienced emotion and the songs are different enough that i dont think there is any cause for getting too peevis

I was more amazed at the time that he hadn't already done a song called "I'm Bored"

The Pet Shop Boys' "Being Boring" is about not being boring, so I guess you can't include that. Or the Chairmen of the Board's "Give Me Just a Little More Time," which has nothing to do with boredom.

The Buzzcocks' song is sublime; Iggy's song is pretty good. There is no better song, though, than Bored by Destroy All Monsters. It means everything to me.

i guess i chose these three songs in particular because they all came out within a short space of time and were born from a similar milieu

Yeah, I get that, I'm just exploring my thesis that all songs about boredom and being bored are awesome.
