Audioslave

I think that's their official name now, theyve gone through a couple.

Anyway, Ive only heard a couple songs but they sound amazingly great. It's like Rage Against the Machine, minus the rapping and stupid politics, leaving the amazing guitar work of Tom Morello, and bass work of Tim C., and then adding the amazing singing of Chris Cornell.

What do you think?

Somehow don't image this being to popular here, but myslef, I've dug what I've heard so far. Sounds a bit like mid-vintage Soundgarden too... there's a shared Sab-worship amongst these guys.

Points off for the name. I mean, really....Audioslave? What does that even mean? There's no excuse for having a bad name in 2002.

Beyond that, I'm quite curious to hear the finished product.

its really awful music. bland. no colors. straight rock riffs. cornell is just being cornell. really they must be the most boring rhythym section today.

A fellow I used to play music with was a RATM fanatic and played this for me a couple months ago. It is alright, nothing great, nothing horrible. It sounds like a toned down RATM with Chris Cornell singing.

If that sounds like something you would like, search it, and if not, spend your money elsewhere. Personally, I was not feeling it.

"It sounds like a toned down RATM with Chris Cornell singing."

Well, I mean, isn't that exactly what it is?

it sounds like soungarden with shitty, stiff musicians replacing the guitarist and bassist and chris cornell sounds hoarse. it lacks the things that made soundgarden likeable; i was never a soundgarden fan but audioslave's deficiencies highlight soundgarden's good qualities.

this ignores the fact that they were ALWAYS boring

Audioslave sounds like file-sharing client.

M. Matos speaks my mind on this subject.

Same here. I always thought RATM sounded like a bad frat-party hard rock band. Soundgarden at least provided a warmer, more fluid backdrop for his vocals.

Well, I mean, that is exactly what it sounds like.

Glad we cleared that up.

I LIKED the song I heard. The rhythm section sounded more like Rage than I expected (what else would they sound like though?), which to me has usually been a good thing, and definitely not stiff. It is more straight up rawk than Soundgarden or RatM though.

Of course it's not going to be as innovative/good as their former bands, just a fun rock album by musicians whose work I like.

Is it me, or is Chris Cornell sporting a really strange look these days? And doesn't his skin look bizarrely "tanner" than usual?....as if he's sequestered himself in some sort've tannng booth for an ill-advised amount of time.
