Who else is digging this new album?
Started out as a sort of Animal Collective-backed Gang Gang Dance / Goat style 4th-world band, all cod-mystical chanting with new-age noise, the usual. But this new album is really quite different. Saw it described as 'whooshy dance-punk' which is exactly what it is, but with a whole bunch of other things thrown into the mix. The closest thing it reminds me of is things like Out Hud and other early-2000s DFA stuff, but without sounding old-fashioned in any way.

Was kind of looking forward to this (have previously liked some stuff but found it not quite fully formed) but the Dandy Warhols comparison has put me right off.

from what I remember about how the Dandy Warhols sound, they didn't sound like this

It's like they bundled up all of US indie's most annoying characteristics into one complete package.

I don't find this all that different from the last album outside of the "NOW comp from alternate future" conceit they played with on the last one. I'm not making any Dandy Warhols connections.
I do think it is very good, though. Just played it back to back with the new TEEN album and they paired quite nicely.

Saw them in support of this album recently and it was pure joy.

The Dandy Warhols wish they'd ever made an album like this.

listened to it all the way through this morning and yeah it's solid. i don't agree with matt dc although i can see why it might come across a bit like that on the surface.

This album kicks ass and these two sisters are one of the most vital live acts around. This track is a dead ringer for slapp happy
