Albums where the title track kind of overwhelms the rest of the album

I'm listening to Lou Reed's The Bells as I type. Epic title track. And I like the rest of the album, but really, it can in no way compare with the title track. Station To Station is sort of in the same bag I'd say.

Are we counting albums with sidelong title tracks? Cuz, "Tarkus" and "Close to the Edge" to name a few...

Otherwise as far as tracks somewhat within a more 'normal' length - I always thought "Lunatic Harness" by u-ziq was a good example of this. Cool album but that one track just dominates everything.

'Stay' is the standout on Station to Station for me. I don't actually care much for the rest.

Probably cos you mentioned Lou Reed as the first example, Street Hassle came to mind immediately.

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Friday, 6 May 2016 15:40 (nine years ago)

it's a testament to the strength of in the court of the crimson king as an album that this doesn't happen. cuz it's all overwhelming.

(xp) otm. Plus "All Through the Night" and "Families" are not only on the same album as "The Bells", they're on the same side of the same album as "The Bells".

"Autobahn" is the obvious answer - though I like the rest of the album well enough.
