i loooooove "fire," feels like a hybrid of paramore and kelly clarkson. think they have a ton of potential

"you and i" is pretty good but is kinda let down by wordless chorus pyrotechnics. still i think they like the 1975 combine a few otherwise alienated aesthetics in a really interesting way. obv emo pedigree but filtered through a lot of synth darkness

also they're sort of what i always wanted we are the in crowd to be but they didn't have the talent to pull it off

Kind of gothier than them tho no?

Idk I have only passing awareness of paramore

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Sunday, 22 May 2016 03:58 (nine years ago)

This stuff feels darker or more self serious or s/thing

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Sunday, 22 May 2016 04:05 (nine years ago)

Paramore were (arguably still are) more goth and self-serious than is implied by like "Still Into a You" - check "Misery Business", "Decode", "Ignorance" etc.

Tim F, Sunday, 22 May 2016 05:15 (nine years ago)

Also my eternal broken heart favourite "All I Wanted"

Tim F, Sunday, 22 May 2016 05:23 (nine years ago)

lets get covered in flames and play some games with the smoke

not really my kind of thing, musically, but that's a hell of a line

(it's about fucking, deej)

da vinci beaver testicles (contenderizer), Monday, 23 May 2016 00:50 (nine years ago)

'fire' was the theme song for last night's wwe pay per view. pretty rad to hear a lady's voice in and out of the breaks between matches.

maura, Monday, 23 May 2016 17:05 (nine years ago)

(i like this band! i heard about them from brad and from a student of mine.)

hi i finally had time to listen to this record. their sense of emotional scale is canyon-wide, and i love that they have so many different textures (basically a continuum of very good fluid gothy emo band <---------> star destroyer synths) and that i get to hear them cycle through every single one of them in every single song. massive improvement on the debut, what a cool band

I tried with these guys before and thought it was OK but not for me but "Death Of Me" and "Hallucinations" are such a gigantic leap forward and this new EP is excellent

boxedjoy, Tuesday, 29 October 2019 15:32 (five years ago)

"Old Wounds" is like the great song at the end of every Garbage album

This is so Version 2.0 it's unreal

boxedjoy, Saturday, 29 August 2020 06:54 (four years ago)

two years pass...

New album is very “hmm maybe the last album was not Version 2.0 enough”. I’m not sure what I think of it but it’s a LOT and kind of impressive in its commitment to the bit
