I really like this Broncho song!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZbwTrrJkhc
(i kinda always felt like if you wanted to get at the dark heart of the 80's you should just chop & screw a Big Pig song or something and then just sing over it. if you didn't have much in the way of skills anyway...)
i even like the brooklyn-y lol 80's prince rama song on here. there must be a brooklyn lol 80's renaissance going on.
i like the empress of song too. reminded me of mary margaret o'hara a little. never heard empress of.
heck, i even like that teen suicide song. it must be my allergy medication.
and THIS. i like this a lot. this is Raggett-core.

true or false:
No other artist expresses the complexities of desire better than FKA Twigs.

MITSKI!
(Could also be an answer to the above)

I think she's gotten consistently more interesting as her career has gone on; I revisited EP2 after falling hard for LP1 and it still scanned as undercooked and too static for my tastes, whereas pretty much everything she's done from "Two Weeks" on has been right up my alley.
― STOP KILLING ANIMALS, THEY'RE MINT (DJP), Friday, 3 June 2016 16:14 (nine years ago)
Excited to listen to a lot of these songs. Of the ones I know, these are all on my own rolling best-of-2016 playlist:
Tegan & Sara, "Boyfriend"Rihanna, "Work" Chairlift, "Moth to the Flame"Lindstrom," Closing Shot"Brandy Clark, "Girl Next Door"
And "Formation" probably would be if it were on Spotify.
― jaymc, Friday, 3 June 2016 16:14 (nine years ago)
list peaks early with maxwell and lucy dacus

The two Beyonce songs are on point, also FKA twigs and Underworld (I'd also include "If Rah").
Fuck Drake forever IMO

i'm still listening to stuff. will report back.
― scott seward, Friday, 3 June 2016 16:24 (nine years ago)
i haven't heard the white lung record!
― who is extremely unqualified to review this pop album (BradNelson), Friday, 3 June 2016 16:40 (nine years ago)
ah okay, might be up yr street. borderline emo-ish not-really-punk with lots of great guitar sounds
― real orgone kid (NickB), Friday, 3 June 2016 16:45 (nine years ago)
the guitars are great! the drumming really drags it down?
― who is extremely unqualified to review this pop album (BradNelson), Friday, 3 June 2016 16:48 (nine years ago)
not that i haven't heard white lung before. i loved sorry and was weirdly indifferent to deep fantasy. this one's better

This is the first I've heard anything from Life of Pablo, but that Kanye track is pretty cool on first impression. Liked hearing Chance in that.
Not really feelin the Tegan and Sara. And not to get too negative, since this is a thread for liking, but Colleen Green :/

Just to be clear: there is now one employee at Spin, newly hired. The old employees - the ppl you were reading on the site just yesterday or last week - no longer work there. A private equity company bought the site. Their other properties look like they will give you malware— Winston Cook-Wilson (@ratsonly) February 4, 2020
