Ravvivando is no dud.

All the threads I revive seem to be started by Jaxon?
And "You know FaUSt" is great. "Rien" isn't.

Just get everything you possibly can.

I have V. I have most things. I don't get why people don't like Ravvivando. I can't get into the Dalek thing though.

I suppose because they lost the absurdist dada song side when Jean-Herve Peron left, leaving the clanging perc. + swelling organ stuff to predominate. When you listen to some of the material from 1974-75, it's remarkable how little they'd changed by "Ravvivando"

I don't listen to any of this stuff that much but I've bought a fair bit of it. I've avoided the Nosferatu soundtrack they made, though. Can't imagine I'd ever be in the mood to listen to something like that. I've got this Patchwork thing and it is fun, but seems like an afterthought.

"Nosferatu" is OK, not very well recorded though. It doesn't match up with the movie tho, I've tried it several times "Dark Side of the Moon"/"Wizard of Oz" style.

I like Patchwork, it's like a crazy Faust mixtape.
Faust/Dalek is great.
Interested to hear Faust/Nurse With Wound's Disconnected

"I like Patchwork, it's like a crazy Faust mixtape." Sure. Just like Tapes was. It's even got slightly different versions of some of the same songs.

Revive (as there is a new album out)
My take on this is that they really lost something tangible from Faust IV on; not just Peron (who does appear on later recordings) but also their original songwriter (Rudolf Sosna, who died in 1996). From then on they've seemed most interested in just doing post-apocalyptic dumpster jams. Ravvivando is the real shining moment in all of this; it is about as good as their original stuff, but a lot more harsh and desolate. Every new Faust album gives me some hope that they'll repeat that but they never do. Rather there are a lot of albums that are probably overlong but generally feature some decent jams and a few cool parts, like You Know Faust or Faust is Last. The new one is kind of a dud...it doesn't really go anywhere, and by the time they start mixing it up the album is basically over.
