So it's apparently out now. I WANT TO KNOW HOW GREAT IT IS. Off The Wall part II or more Jermaine Jackson's Dynamite?

grrr nath nath NATH it's great BUY it! ;-) neptunes tracks are better than timbaland tracks tho. justin is a blank space for u & i 2 fill in. it's all about allowing him to become an adult even when he is aurally not ready for it. that hat of his is a shield to protect his inner doubts. musically it is an imagined, idealised 1979-80 (i.e. what jacko should have done after "off the wall" - neptunes have quincy jones' astuteness re. use of space & silence) but could NEVER have been made in 1979-80. a remembrance of things past ;-)

(of course i texted you an even more condensed version on saturday!)

This is the second album I've bought this year cos Marcello said so. Not yet listened, though. How will it compare to the Armenian Navy Band in the recommendations knock-down drag-out war?

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 November 2002 19:04 (twenty-three years ago)

It's mostly solid but the 2 ballads are unfortunately pretty disposable. The greatest thing is the generous inclusion of more DRUMS-like/takeoffmyjacket moments like audible $-shots all over the place. "Little baby w/ the sundress onnnnnn, you lookin so damn right yer wronnnnng" heh

What about the Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu?

Mike Taylor (mjt), Tuesday, 5 November 2002 05:45 (twenty-three years ago)

you lookin so damn right yer wronnnnng

EURGH. No, I'm sorry, I refuse to countenance hearing Justin saying THAT. The blank template thing only goes so far. ;-)
