i looked for a proper thread and couldn't find one. one solely dedicated to these important artists. i think they are actually better artists than 78% of artists who call themselves artists. better than Jeff Koons. better than Harmony Korine. though Harmony did fine work with the group. better than Banksy. better than Damian Hurst. better than Radiohead. better than Martin Scorsese post-Raging Bull. i hope they never have a museum exhibit but they probably will when we are all dead and gone. actually i don't even really care what people think of them. i do give the edge to Anselm Keifer as far as living artists go though. but just a SLIGHT edge.

What amuses me most is that they're a married couple

I find them fascinating too. Their whole aesthetic - the junkyard cultural cannibalism thing - is amazing, particularly their embrace of real ugliness and near-constant vulgarity. Some of their videos are genuinely hard to watch. I don't like many of their songs, but they photograph really well, and their presentation is total. The mask never slips. Even on Yo-Landi's Instagram, when they show photos of their teenage daughter, they're still basically in their Die Antwoord personae, just with a kid.
