Might have to go with "The Crab Song"

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 6 October 2016 20:52 (eight years ago)

This is pretty tough. My first thought was As The Worm Turns, but then I thought it might be Anne's Song, then Spirit, now I realise I need to listen to the album before I choose.

My favorite FNM singer, to be real. Off the top of my head it's probably Chinese Arithmetic, but this is a good excuse to revisit those records just to be sure.

This poll should be

So you thought she'd be sweeter than your girlfriend Peter
Well give it a second chance cause you've yet to meet her
We got the same ideas, we got the same old fears
They're different colors sometimes, but, hey hey, who cares?
Just years that tear our lives apart
Like the time that you tried to teach your cousin to walk
He couldn't do it - PUSH! - you told him twice
Well, I do man but it just don't jive

We've got the same ideas, we got the same old fears;
They're different colors sometimes, but hey, who cares?
It's just years that shears our lives apart, like the
Time you tried to teach your nephew to fart, he couldn't do it. PUSH!
So he's growing up in the middle...

that's such a weird callback on that album

Whiney G. Weingarten, Friday, 7 October 2016 13:42 (eight years ago)

It's mystified me for decades.

Why Do You Bother is pretty fucking awesome. I never got into the first record before, just due to its lack of availability at the time when I cared most about FNM. Finally picked it up on cassette from a thrift store in the early 2000s but didn't give it a serious listen. Introduce Yourself still a better album as a whole. Wish that neither of them had We Care A Lot on it though. Lol.

As the Worm Turns is my shit

I think part of my aversion to We Care a Lot is rooted in my little sister's Care Bear collection.

I love this band so much.

It never stops being insane that you can get five guys to agree on that sound in 1987 and then they can go platinum in a pre-Nevermind world

Whiney G. Weingarten, Sunday, 6 November 2016 00:33 (eight years ago)

Like OK, the rhythm section will be a cross between Public Image Limited and Newcleus; we'll have a bonkers shredding heavy metal guitar player and then there's a keyboard player which hasn't been cool in rock bands for like a decade. Also, our singer is an art-punk who's gonna croon about cream soda. Can we be on MTV now?

Whiney G. Weingarten, Sunday, 6 November 2016 00:36 (eight years ago)

That photo smells bad.

No complaints at all, re: the poll winner!
