~~~ ILM 1970s SOUL/FUNK/DISCO ALBUMS POLL ~~~ VOTING THREAD

This is the official ILM 1970s Soul/Funk/Disco Albums POLL. You have exactly one week to put together a list of your favorite soul, funk and disco albums from the 1970s. Here are the rules:

1. Your ballot should have 25 to 100 albums that are copy/pasted from this list of nominations. Please copy the whole line, as this makes counting the votes much easier for me.

2. Your first album on the list will get 30 points, the second one 29 points, down to number 25 which will receive 6 points. All the other albums on your list will receive 5 points each, so don't bother about ranking the albums 25-100!

3. The deadline is Sunday, October 16, 23:59 - wherever in the world you are.

This album that I nominated seems to be missing from the list... It's not their 1972 duo album, it's the 1979 one.

This is really hard! Apart from a small number of albums that I can honestly say I've spent a lot of time with, I mostly know singles and other bits and pieces from a bunch of things. Not sure I've ever listened to a full album by the Temptations! Or The Isley Brothers! Or Ashford & Simpson!

I considered nominating a couple of his albums, but in the end I decided voting for (mostly) instrumental jazz-funk isn't in the spirit of this poll. I don't think I'll vote for pure disco either, as much as I love it. We already had a ballot poll for disco.

I find I'm doing the same thing, more or less subconscious: after I put together a very quick first list, I noticed I had included only a few albums from the second half of the decade.
My ballot is going to be 90% soul, also because I've found that funk isn't really my thing.

I've been fairly present here in the last month but somehow missed the noms thread. Also we did already cover disco, but that included the 80's. I think this poll makes sense in that there's a lot of soul/funk/disco crossover, hopefully the same US disco hits that topped that ballot poll aren't all again picked here.

don't sleep on Heatwave, particularly the Hot Property record -- prime soul/disco/funk fusion with great production, and Rod Temperton songwriting from the exact same period he was writing for MJ's Off the Wall.

I don't know what's usual, but when I did the Sonic Youth poll three years ago 43 people voted. Now I'd be very happy if we get to 25.
I have already received 13 ballots, with at least three ballots still coming in.

70s Soul and Funk TRACKS a very big thing with me. It was the prospect of coming up with 25 albums that threw me off.

The Motown and disco polls got got turn outs. Also, There's a Riot Goin' On did win the 70s poll back in the day. Curtis came close in the alternative 70s poll a few years ago too.

I think maybe the time to vote could have been a bit longer? A week isn't really a long time.

ime of running polls most people leave voting til the last minute so chances are a 2 or 3 week voting period would mean the 13 ballots so far wouldnt come in until the last few days.
People always put voting off until as late as possible.

the recent metal poll had 2 months voting period and 80% of votes came in the last 5 days

Plus, since we started with a nominations list that was more or less complete, you could say you had five weeks to put a ballot together and vote. I'll divide things differently next time, I think.

Anyway, one more ballot was sent in during the last hour (by a user whose name I don't recognize, so hi!). Less than 12 hours to go...

I will vote, but being busy has meant I'll only vote for albums I've heard before - and only for albums I've enjoyed as full albums, which isn't the way I know some artists best.
