Though there had been earlier points where instruments had been played by guest musicians, Barry Adamson playing bass on bits of Junkyard because Tracy pew was in prison in Australia I think.

i think we should expand it to bands where the new band is named after a song by the previous band as well.

this almost applies to the Brown's Ferry Four, a gospel supergroup (Merle Travis, Grandpa Jones, and Alton and Rabon Delmore) who named themselves after "Brown's Ferry Blues", one of the Delmore Brothers' biggest hits. apparently the name originated as a joke, given the risque lyrics of the original song.

Not quite but Oingo Boingo released an album called "Boi-ngo" and then a few years later changed their name to Boingo.
