Just because everyone should hear this. It is easily one of my favorite pieces of choral music, if not my favorite. Learning it was a bitch and a half but OH SO WORTH IT. (NOTE: I am not singing in this video but I wish I was)

Hadn't seen this until now and don't know the piece of music. Listening now, but if I miss the vote, my bad

ok well this is 100% incredible and I'm a huge sucker that rhythmic pedaling "gloria" at about the twenty minute mark (and the mirror of it w/"benedictus" a little later) but the Credo reached me at a deeper place. nb I am still, at years of remove, very crushed out on the Credo just as a statement of faith so that informs my choice here somewhat. however it should be said that the Agnus Dei here is like Tavener-level incredible too, just transporting, what a conclusion

anyway literally 100% of everybody should listen to this it's fucking amazing

The thing about this piece is that every single moment has at least one full-on transport-you-to-heaven moment in it. In the Agnus Dei, that moment is the entire movement.

Aw, the beginning of the Sanctus is glorious and deserves a vote.

The main thing I love about this video is the sheet music scroll which lets you see how the parts shift and recombine across the two choirs. How the music shifts across the stage enhances already stellar writing for voices.

sheet music scroll youtubes are the best invention, in general

My first exposure to him was this set on Harmonia Mundi - arresting, very rewarding music

I've sung this piece twice; once with a friend while he was building up his resume for conducting grad school and once with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. I dream of doing it again.

Thanks for the reminder; I forgot to follow up on this after the classical poll. Just used some of my emusic credits on the Tonu Kaljuste/Netherlands Chamber Choir recording. Will report back!
