Neanderthal, Thursday, 19 January 2017 02:49 (eight years ago)

seeing as the knife are going to win this by a zilion miles, probably in a 1-2 finish, and probably deservedly,

i'm going to vote for (the first) muse

xox

Neanderthal, Thursday, 19 January 2017 02:56 (eight years ago)

That camera obscura song is so so so good

voodoo chili, Thursday, 19 January 2017 02:59 (eight years ago)

totally missed "Kick Push". I know we get clowned for liking Lupe on this board but always loved that song.

Neanderthal, Thursday, 19 January 2017 03:01 (eight years ago)

ti over camera obscura

Roscoe

Darin, Thursday, 19 January 2017 05:31 (eight years ago)

"We Share Our Mother's Health", followed closely by Camera Obscura. They seem almost garishly quaint now but I still have soft spots for "Pull Shapes" and "Young Folks".

monotony, Thursday, 19 January 2017 06:03 (eight years ago)

This list is pretty great. Camera Obscura, probably. or junior boys or pipettes.

josh az (2011nostalgia), Thursday, 19 January 2017 06:28 (eight years ago)

Maneater, of course.

Tuomas, Thursday, 19 January 2017 07:46 (eight years ago)

strong list!

12 963 T.I. - What You Know
20 1657 The Knife - Silent Shout
36 2507 Beyoncé - Irreplaceable
^^all great

niels, Thursday, 19 January 2017 07:57 (eight years ago)

I just love that darn whistling melody in "Young Folks" so much.

Mr. Snrub, Thursday, 19 January 2017 08:06 (eight years ago)

criminal how cassie's "me & u" didn't place in the top 40

josh, Thursday, 19 January 2017 08:43 (eight years ago)

I don't have any cred so I have nothing to lose: Knights of Cydonia

illbient microtonal poetry Surbiton (imago), Thursday, 19 January 2017 14:20 (eight years ago)

knights of cydonia is easily the best muse song/maybe only good thing they've done

can't go past we share our mother's health though

ufo, Thursday, 19 January 2017 14:40 (eight years ago)

10 928 Panda Bear - Bro's
17 1427 Junior Boys - In the Morning
20 1657 The Knife - Silent Shout
22 1915 Beirut - Postcards from Italy
25 2047 Midlake - Roscoe

^^ all great. Feel like it has to be Silent Shout, but Roscoe is fantastic. Will flip a coin.

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 19 January 2017 14:44 (eight years ago)

all of these are good to great

(The caption: “fine dining.”) (DJP), Thursday, 19 January 2017 14:46 (eight years ago)

this is prob Crazy vs Promiscuous vs We Share Our Mother's Health for me

(The caption: “fine dining.”) (DJP), Thursday, 19 January 2017 14:46 (eight years ago)

Anyone of these could get my vote.

Hot Chip - And I Was a Boy from School
The Pipettes - Pull Shapes
Camera Obscura - Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken
Nelly Furtado - Maneater
The Knife - We Share Our Mother's Health
Midlake - Roscoe

This list is better than I was expecting. I always think of 2006 being not a brilliant year for music. Maybe it just wasn't for albums?

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 19 January 2017 14:50 (eight years ago)

Ooh there are some doozies here.

I Don't Feel Like Dancin'

jmm, Thursday, 19 January 2017 18:10 (eight years ago)

WTF is 'We Share Our Mother's Health' doing all the way at the bottom of that list? Super weird.

"Nay" (Old Lunch), Thursday, 19 January 2017 18:21 (eight years ago)

It was never as popular as "Silent Shout" IIRC

Kind of saddened by no "Marble House" or "Like A Pen"

(The caption: “fine dining.”) (DJP), Thursday, 19 January 2017 18:29 (eight years ago)

Bros is one of the most passive aggressive songs ever, amazing how much venom is in Person Pitch.

flappy bird, Thursday, 19 January 2017 18:31 (eight years ago)

Wow, voting for literally anything on this list would be a heavy compromise for me.

Austin, Thursday, 19 January 2017 18:56 (eight years ago)

There's a lot of horseshit on this list.

KNIGHTS OF CYDONIA

was really hoping "Dick Around" by Sparks would make an appearance here

nxd, Thursday, 19 January 2017 23:13 (eight years ago)

Fucking hell, Crazy is over ten years old.

chap, Thursday, 19 January 2017 23:28 (eight years ago)

I will probably vote for it, maybe Wolf Like Me or Back to Black. Not a stellar list.

chap, Thursday, 19 January 2017 23:29 (eight years ago)

Good list, weird order.

LeRooLeRoo, Friday, 20 January 2017 01:01 (eight years ago)

Pipettes, Camera Obscura and Scissor Sisters are the only songs that really jump out for me. Lots of stuff I haven't heard in years or never heard at all (UK centric?). I like the Junior Boys but not in single-song chunks. Voted Pipettes.

The Funeral

the future is now, Saturday, 21 January 2017 22:29 (eight years ago)

I am confused about how two songs from Black Holes and Revelations made this list and neither of them is "Starlight".

My Body's Made of Crushed Little Evening Stars (Sund4r), Saturday, 21 January 2017 22:37 (eight years ago)

Well, 'Knights of Cydonia' made it because it's the best thing Muse have ever done. I do prefer 'Starlight' to 'Supermassive Black Hole', though, probably because it reminds me of Midge Ure-era Ultravox.

Working night & day, I tried to stay awake... (Turrican), Saturday, 21 January 2017 22:58 (eight years ago)

so far, no-one has admitted to voting for "Crazy." it's a brilliant song, easily in my Top 3 but won't get my vote here.

i wonder how the three Knife songs will turn out in overall placement. all three songs are great and i'm almost positive i voted for the album in Acclaimed Album poll. all three won't get my vote here.

i think the Muse order is correct: Knights of Cydonia > Supermassive Black Hole >> 69 5353 Muse - Starlight.

Bee OK, Sunday, 22 January 2017 01:51 (eight years ago)

Starlight is the best thing Muse ever did. Only worthwhile thing. A slightly better Keane, that is kinda what they could pull off.

Frederik B, Sunday, 22 January 2017 02:33 (eight years ago)

Crazy is a brilliantly composed track but I wouldn't be sad if I never heard it again.

skip, Sunday, 22 January 2017 08:17 (eight years ago)

you might be happy to hear it again, though
