This week's Other Music mailout plugs the new "R is for" collection. I've heard nothing by this band save for the two clips in the e-mail: do I need to go down to 4th Street for this?

yes, if you like jangly indiepop, they are an important band.

I Heard You The First Time was my favourite single of 1987

I was big into Creation jangly stuff at the time and they were one of the more insubstantial and uninteresting bands.

"sorry to embarrass you" is a great great single, wonderful. but the other stuff of theirs that i have heard has been a bit drab

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 7 November 2002 10:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Agreed Gareth - they still used ear-piercing that Vox 12-string which disappeared on the later stuff, making the recordings sound relatively dull.

Eeegh - that should read: they still used that ear-piercing Vox 12-string...

gregory webster has a voice made to annoy me. sportique would be great if they deleted the verses and just went with the chorus'.

yes they are def worth investigating! the new comp does a much much better job than the creation one, though it still skimps rather on their last album, so if you like it a trawl round secondhand record stores might yet follow...
