The multiple same-artist combos here says it all about this year. Late LCD hasn't aged well and a lot of this stuff was never good in the first place (Vampire Weekend, Bon Iver, National, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, Animal Collective, Los Campesinos). MGMT's lasting contribution appears to be the visual aesthetic from the album cover.

voted Justice but I missed Robyn, which would have been my pick.

also shows how much rock music has atrophied seeing that many of these acts are still the highest profile indie rock bands around...

Fireworks is the one Animal collective song I still listen to and it's amazing, but International players' anthem...

wound up going for "Someone Great", can't forget the first time I heard it and how incredibly hard it hit me. remember feeling like he was finally transcending his influences in that moment. "All My Friends" is excellent too of course

still love the Battles tune, there's nothing else like it

For all the shit I give LCD Soundsystem, Someone Great probably is one of the better songs here (admittedly, a very poor crowd). Voted something...else though

I feel like if Bon Iver had stopped after "For Emma", he'd have a better shot at this, but these days people are more likely to associate him with autotune and weird unicode symbols in song titles.

i was at a bachelor party at a bar that had a Touchtunes jukebox and I put this on and like ten fuckin' people started going nuts....peopel that I wouldn't even think would love it

Int'l Player's Anthem (I Choose You) and With Every Heartbeat are two of my favourite singles of the decade. Really hard for me to pick between them.

i always thought it was mostly the song they sampled that made me like Intl Players but Project Pat used the same sample on a song and it was good but nowhere near as good.

A large chunk of this year's critical consensus both then and now feels so hollow to me. I've posted plenty of times on ILM about how I thought this year was garbage, even though I'm pretty sure the feeling derived from the hype surrounding The National, LCD, Los Camp, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys & Bon Iver albums all at once.

At the time I didn't at all understand why anyone enjoyed "Atlas" but I've started to enjoy it a bit more in the past 4-5 years.

"Someone Great" as I have dedicated that song to Bimbo and it almost makes me cry everytime I hear it these days.

RIP Bimbo, still miss you!
