if you listened to the new windy and carl box set all in one sitting would it lay you into a coma from which you could never be roused?

that said, i like them, i love the instrumental ep and once dreamt lp and sometimes they make me think i am listening to roy montgomery and i'll probably get this.

That's my type of coma! And yes I'm planning on getting this, of course. :-)

They are nice but never struck me as that involving, interesting or important. Saw 'em live twice and have one album.

oddly enough windy and carl wake me up every morning - antartica's in stereo i use as a glorified cd alarm clock thing. well, nearly every morning - it's so ambient that sometimes i sleep through it.

Dick Posthumus is writing a position paper on this very issue.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 7 November 2002 14:16 (twenty-three years ago)

You know, now that I found out the guy's name really is Dick Posthumus, I have to wonder about him.

Michigan also had a tough choice for Atty. General: Cox vs. Peters. Last I heard, it was still "too close to call".

Best wakeup album = first disc of Corrupted's Llenandose de Gusanos. 20 minutes of gentle piano + voice that respects my long-winded morning routine. But if I don't get up before those 20 minutes pass, ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE and I have no choice but to get up and turn off the unholy racket booming out my speakers.

I hope this doesn't count as spamming, since I've posted here a few times before (and read all the time) - but if anyone is in Virginia and interested in seeing Windy & Carl play, they're performing in Williamsburg, Va on April 19th. They'll be playing with Paik (a sort of psychedelic, shoegaze band). The radio station I work at is putting on the show, so it will be on campus, and only 7bux for non-students. Feel free to email me if you have questions - and please don't hate me for announcing the show, I just wanted to share!

Windy and Carl *and* Paik together, and I am not seeing them. *weeps at the sadness of the world*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 11 April 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, Ned, I'm sure you can fly over to *Williamsburg VA* on a whim such as this. Clarke B. would be happy to see you. ;-)

stolenbus (stolenbus), Friday, 11 April 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I knew that Ned would like Paik for some reason. They are fabulouso!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 11 April 2003 14:34 (twenty-two years ago)

*bows* This is all very compelling, yes, but funds and all. ;-)

I first heard/saw Paik at Terrastock 5. Logically I immediately bought all their albums.

four weeks pass...
...and I have this new album now, Dedications to Flea, which arrived in the mail today. Flea was their beloved dog, who passed away earlier this year at 15 years old, a respectable age for a canine beast. It's two long pieces and is v. much classic Windy and Carl dreamy improv, so while it's not a revelation it's still good listening, and tapes of Flea sniffling and panting form the transition between the two composition, continuing well into the second. A fine tribute, and having lost family dogs myself over the moons, I well appreciate the feeling behind it.

I'm listening to the first disc now. Wow. The sort of minimalistic drone I kind of wish fixed::contexts was. So I would like W&C's other albums?

Leeeeeeeee (Leee), Friday, 16 September 2005 23:21 (twenty years ago)

Yes. Get them all. And tell them I sent you.
