I've been looking everywhere for it. I've found but for not very cheap.

That seems to be the deal pretty much all around. I keep seeing the vinyl around Toronto for around $5. Good luck finding the CD, though.

I bought my copy for 99 cents!

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 7 November 2002 07:15 (twenty-three years ago)

some syrup?

Since its one of the greatest albums ever what's your moaning about - buy it now.

I got mine free. They were playing at Leicester University and ticket sales were so poor that they were giving away the album if you bought a ticket. I bought mine on the day of the gig and I think it was the thirteenth ticket they had sold. And I couldn't make it to the gig in the end, unfortunately, so there were probably only twelve people there. They split up soon afterwards.

The bass player is from Grimsby - same as me...in case it's of any interest.

Jez (Jez), Thursday, 7 November 2002 11:54 (twenty-three years ago)

tigerclawskank is my hero for today!

Jez: He now mainly plays the saw, I believe.

OleM (OleM), Thursday, 7 November 2002 12:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Have you noticed that all saw players manage to sneak in a rendition of Edelweiss, when no one's looking...

Jez (Jez), Thursday, 7 November 2002 12:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I have some solo albums by Kev Hopper - the bass player and he does indeed play the saw some of the time. The more recent one has loads of other people, including some high llamas I think, though it doesn't have anything like the same impact as Stump.

Did any of the other Stump guys do anything else? Was Chris Salmon in Spoonfed Hybrid or am I getting confused? I'm off to check the web and see what I find.

I have a tape of an interview witht he drummer on the radio in which he talks about having to puke after seeing Mick Hucknell.

Apart from a couple of the others guesting on Stolen Jewels, I've no idea. I'd be interested to hear about what you might find, though.

OleM (OleM), Thursday, 7 November 2002 12:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Not much to be found - no sign of any members other than Kev and the fullest history is on his own site.

And unsuprisingly googling just stump won't get you anywhere.

How much is the fish?

Mick Lynch did an interview on MuchMusic in Canada where he explained what 'A Fierce Pancake' was - and I believe at the time he was talking about the Pogues. He said something like "A fierce pancake is a band that pretends to be from Ireland when they're actually not." Is this phrase in common use, or was he mental? And yeah, the CD is extremely rare and expensive. The Peel Sessions are pretty good. I miss Stump very much. Ever notice now much Primus sounded like them? I think that was why I originally got into them.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 7 November 2002 17:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Got into who, Primus or Stump?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 7 November 2002 18:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Primus, there Clunky. Sorry. Me and Hutton were into Stump from the get-go (I guess from when the 'Buffalo' single was out). I think Chris even got a Mick Lynch hair cut at one point. I just pretended I was Kev Hopper so I didn't have to change my appearance. I'll take you guys out for dinner for geting me the vinyl when we come, unless it's still true that you don't want to be seen with me!

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 7 November 2002 18:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Jeeze, it was only 5ive bux, don't worry about it. Or, you could buy me a Mick Lynch hair cut.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 7 November 2002 19:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Or both. I'd piss myself.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 7 November 2002 19:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I found a copy of CD of A FIERCE PANCAKE on eBay, and paid handsomely for it.

Worth every damn cent, though.
