just saw this amazing band live and i'm speechless. their stage act was completely out of hand. i rationalized me drinking five beers before the show just to get into it, but that is besides the point. this group has an amazing sense of rhythym. has anyone else seen these guys live? tey are on tour for the next four weeks. if you have time, i highly suggest checking them out. intoxicated or not, you'll move.

Is that the actual full name of the band?

Get rid of the bad word, and you got it. Here's more info.

TMFTML (TMFTML), Thursday, 7 November 2002 16:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I got a free CD of theirs about last year some time, maybe longer than that ago. It was mental. I didn't listen to it alot I confess but I remember playing it to people cos it was so mental.

click on the link above that says Here's more info

go to the catalogue and click on the individual album covers and there should be a few mp3s to download.

i read the reviews on the site and didn't get "avant-skronkrockers" from the clips. sounded more like The Black Heart Procession to me

Thanks.

I actually found some more here.

I saw these guys last friday night, they opened for Mr. Darnielle and Vanderslice at a instore performance.

Really bizzare stuff. First of all the drummer never sits still and he likes to roll his eyes in the back of his head while playing. I find that really weird and totally endearing at the same time. The keyboard player did this one song where he played his keyboard like congos, it souned really good. The usually stoic gate city crowed even got into some of the more poppier numbers.

I picked up their cd, but it doesn't do their live show justice. Catch them live if you can.

one year passes...
Just saw Need New Body playing with Hella this weekend in Missouri. Completely incongruous sets. Need New Body OWNED the show. They are getting better and better. A lot more keys, a good amount of banjo, so much drum. never enough, though. Hella were the most un-fun thing ever after the Need New Body set. I recommend NNB to all the noiseniks on the scene that need a little bit of rhthym in their lives. They love space facts. I love them.

Glad to see this thread. I am going to go see Hella soon and was planning on missing NNB because I was unfamiliar. Sounds good. Will check them out.

Don't miss Need New Body.
Hella played the intro to Hot for Teacher for about 45 minutes. Sure, they did it pretty well, with their eyes closed and really self-satisfied looks on their faces. It seemed like the audience were almost intruding on their private moment, or something.

the drummer of NNB is so radical

I heard they had to add the "Fucking" to distinguish them from the Need New Body that did "Tequila" back in the 50s.

Jon in R'lyeh (ex machina), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

All those kids are so skinny! And none of them touch each other!!

chuck, Monday, 14 June 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, they are all so far apart doing their own interpretive dancing instead of punching and kicking each other like they should be.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 14 June 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

woly boly (woly boly), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

that girl looks like she could (would?) kick my ass. the NNB/Hella show here kicked major ass. it seemed like NNB had upstaged hella 'til the last 3 or so songs when the drummer from hella turned out the only light in the room and everyone just went wild.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

NNB's drummer also plays in icy demons. also, check out the pre-NNB band, bent leg fatima.
