Tired of being alive...

Give the Priest track another chance, it's pretty weird for them, not cartoony like all their other stuff. I like the lyrics too, maybe because I wish I was Japanese so I could be a hikikomuri. (Sp?) You know, those people who never leave their rooms ever and just marinate in ennui becoming invisible blobs. Plus it was such a good track that Motley Crue ripped it off note-for-note for "Danger"!

He had enough, he couldn't take anymore,
He found a place in his mind, and slammed the door.

Judas Priest Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin and Stained Class are all great albums that don't feel cartoony to me. I'm not sure what cartoony means here, though. I am interpreting as "goofy, ridiculous-sounding cornball metal in some people's opinion" and I'm thinking of songs like Turbo Lover and Breakin' The Law and Another Thing Comin'.

Oooh yeh Priest for me. Great song, full of pathos. What's with the way their lyrics became increasingly cartoony? It's quite odd isn't it, like they became less mature with age, or perhaps simply came to enjoy the theatrical, juvenile, stadium qualities of their music more than the subtle aspects. I always wonder about the influence of Tipton here - his lyrics were always the juvenile ones, right from 'The Ripper'. Halford can be lyrically subtle or cheesy depending on his mood, as one can see from his solo lyrics for the Halford band. Sin After Sin has great lyrics.
