my new job pays my rent and student loans, but it quite soul-taxing. a large part of my job is data entry and proofreading numbers, and i could use some songs that will take my mind off these tasks. can you help?

I've got just the thing!

Sheerly by dumb luck, a colleague of mine was cleaning out his office and handed me a brand spankin' new copy of THE VERY BEST OF BOLLYWOOD SONGS VOLUME II. It is both wildly melodic, unintentionally hilarious and remarkably diverse. Go fetch!

John Henry Was A Steel Drivin' Man, 9 Pound Hammer To Heavy, Last Fair Deal Goin' Down. Honest, hardy work songs.

I too do loads of data/number crunching for my work, and I prefer very rhythmic/pulsating instrumental/DJ-type stuff mostly, as it's very focused in nature but not quite as distracting as vocal-type music.

Some of the stuff I listen to whilst performing my number-monkey functions: DJ Shadow, Talvin Singh, Critters Buggin, Amon Tobin, Billy Cobham, Medeski Martin and Wood, 70s-era Miles Davis, DJ Q-bert, Tortoise, Buckethead/Praxis/Thanatopsis, Kid Koala, etc.
