'Come My Fanatics' vs 'Dopethrone'

'Nevermind'/'In Utero' sort of comparison - 'Dopethrone' is IYF as possible to be, yet the 'Shellac perplex' keeps coming up, namely, how far does austerity-in-production go before the device ovrshadows what it's meant to be devicing? But then, who cares when "Funeralopolis" pushes you into a hole and shovels so much dirt on you before blowback-ing thru yr drinking straw? ('Minds of Billy Milligan' rocks btw, fuck I wish I could do that! "Was that you?" "Naw, you'll have to ask the other 23. I can call them for you if you want, are you SURE you want me to do that?")

Haven't reached the final conclusion re 'Let Us Prey' yet, but must say I love a)the cover b)"We the Undead"

Return Trip from 'Come My Fanatics' has to be the very ultimate in doom, though, and the intro roar of feedback is IMHO the most ferocious sound in all metal.

Yet Dopethrone has the greatest cover art...

Am I the first person to ever respond to one of your metal threads by the by, Mr Q?

M Carty - probably, yes. ILM seems to be 'all electroclash, all the time' lately

Let Us Pray is great!! I have to pick up Come my Fanatics.

DEATH TO FALSE METAL and/or ELECTROCLASH!

How about Supercoven? How does that one weigh up?

I second your motion about false metal!

so i've only owned Dopethrone and Supercoven, and i kept dopethrone and sold back supercoven (not without burning it first).

supercoven is only 2 songs (30minutes total), so it drags out the heaviosity to extremes.

i have yet to hear "come my fanatics"

I like "Come My Fanatics" better; perhaps only because it's newer to me.

what i _really_ like about "come my fanatics" is the fact that they just left all the mics open during the recording, so when it's just bass or guitar you can actually hear it vibrating the rattles on the snare drum. that's fucking class, kids.

"dopethrone" took a while for me to get into, but it's nice; i'd still rate it after "supacoven" and "fanatics" though.
