Took the thread title from Altman's California Split.

Went looking for a Barbara Lewis thread and there isn't one, so consider this a Barbara Lewis/Barbara Mason/Barbara Lynn/Barbara Acklin thread. Lewis, Mason, and Acklin made some of my favourite records of the '60s, Lewis especially. Mason's probably as well known for her disco hits, but for me "Yes, I'm Ready" is by far her greatest song. I'm not as big on Barbara Lynn, who's more bluesy than the other three.

Finding this video is what sent me looking for a Lewis thread in the first place--forgot it was in the film.

eight years pass...

Just looking to see what mentions of Barbara Lewis there were on ilxor after getting the 3cd anthology Don't Forget About Me: The Atlantic & Reprise Recordings last week. Finding what I've heard so far sublime. Not sure if I'd been aware of her before looking thròugh labels on the Cherry Red site.
Glad I've found her though. She is really something else.
