I may still record my original idea but I kind of enjoyed doing something very different this go-round

Once I found that cover photo, the rest was easy.
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 September 2017 13:47 (seven years ago)
thanks Ned!
Also I want to personally thank myself for listening to I'd estimate no less than 4 hours of Liam Gallagher interviews from this year
― Universal LULU Nation (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 11 September 2017 13:53 (seven years ago)
off to a great start! (esp bcz i like krautrock better than liam gallagher)
― Universal LULU Nation (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 11 September 2017 13:55 (seven years ago)
great cover Ned ! simple yet perfect : less is more !It also made me check the original cover as I wasn't sure if the original album had been released... as usual, I suppose I won't even bother listening to the "real" album !
― AlXTC from Paris, Monday, 11 September 2017 14:09 (seven years ago)
there is strong work on this
not mine, mind you
― this iphone speaks many languages (DJP), Monday, 11 September 2017 15:02 (seven years ago)
Starting listening. Very good so far, especially Matt's two bittersweet tracks (I'm pretty sure there's nothing as moving on LG's actual album !)
― AlXTC from Paris, Monday, 11 September 2017 15:10 (seven years ago)
not to slight anyone else but bison and aixtc bringing a strong game on this
― plp will eat itself (NickB), Monday, 11 September 2017 15:20 (seven years ago)

thank you! it's funny...I actually started out to do a Negativland pisstake thing where I was gonna do a shitty synth version of the Buffalo Springfield "For What It's Worth" and a lot of clips of Liam being a dickhead then I started listening to all these interviews and he started coming off as a kind of sad guy, like lost w/o Oasis and you can tell the Noel stuff really does bother him a lot, like some kinda Steve Coogan character or something...I guess I sorta fell in love with the lunk.
I really enjoyed all the songs on this good work everyone! Ronan your line "being in bands...with men....forever" killed me
AXTC your track actually could be an Oasis song, and is better than the new Liam songs I've heard haha great stuff
― Universal LULU Nation (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 11 September 2017 16:13 (seven years ago)
Booked a special trip ao i could listen to this in its proper environment.

haha
finished, really dug everyone's stuff and it's kinda weirdly well sequenced for being essentially random process

Downloading this now. Fookin' top!
― Zings Can Only Get Better (snoball), Monday, 11 September 2017 18:32 (seven years ago)
The "All Around the World" ending! The needlessly long second-to-last track! All the Liam samples! What a ride, thanks folks
― airdnb (Tom Violence), Monday, 11 September 2017 18:49 (seven years ago)
lol @ Ronan's hypnotic poetry
― Οὖτις, Monday, 11 September 2017 19:12 (seven years ago)
these are really good, you all have actual musical ability. apologies for the horrendous sound quality on mine, i left it a little late and had to record it on holiday, so my mic was at home.
really liked both matt's songs - real pathos especially in the first one, it sort of made me feel like this was a faintly sad radio documentary about an old man doing an obsolete career.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Monday, 11 September 2017 19:13 (seven years ago)
I always enjoyed how there's often a Krautrocking element to these comps, Tom D bringing a kind of La Dusseldorf thing to the table, love it.
― MaresNest, Monday, 11 September 2017 19:55 (seven years ago)
I had a spare hour to record a final vocal and mix mine, which got cut to 22 minutes when I got called up for parental taxi duties. I had one mix where the vocal was too loud, and another where it was mmm a bit quiet but just as well.
Will make it my journey music tomorrow
― Mark G, Monday, 11 September 2017 20:24 (seven years ago)
I once heard a story (admittedly second-hand) about a friend of a friend who was renting some weird attic room in Hampstead overlooking the rear of Liam's house. Apparently the Gallagher lad would have a lot of parties, where he could be heard singing Oasis songs late into the night while accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. Dunno if that's tragic or heroic really.
― めんどくさかった (Matt #2), Monday, 11 September 2017 20:42 (seven years ago)
Anyway good work from Tom D there, I'll listen to the rest forthwith
― めんどくさかった (Matt #2), Monday, 11 September 2017 20:44 (seven years ago)
Tom D bringing a kind of La Dusseldorf thing to the table
I'd bring that to any and every table if permitted. I don't think I'll be able to listen to this till later in the week, but I'm sure you've all done very well.
― Wewlay Bewlay (Tom D.), Monday, 11 September 2017 20:54 (seven years ago)

― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 12 September 2017 01:02 (seven years ago)
this was fun! ronan's is like some monologue out of film noir and had me giggling. alxtc's and the first helgeson tracks are my immediate favorites. mine is very good, too.

Ha, the clips in UMS's "For What Its Worth" do have a kind of Studs Terkel "Working" vibe
― chr1sb3singer, Tuesday, 12 September 2017 16:04 (seven years ago)
especially Matt's two bittersweet tracks (I'm pretty sure there's nothing as moving on LG's actual album !)
Listening for this time, I'm welling up a bit ;_;

That Ronan track is amazing
― raise my chicken finger (Willl), Thursday, 14 September 2017 11:10 (seven years ago)
My mp3 player doesn't like the last two tracks, they're in the wrong format, and the Good Capitaine's track has gone AWOL on my laptop, so I haven't heard those yet. All sounding great though, you've all done very well!
― Wewlay Bewlay (Tom D.), Thursday, 14 September 2017 12:16 (seven years ago)
there's a soundcloud :P
have been enjoying this a lot. alxtc's one has been popping up in my head at points
― imago, Thursday, 14 September 2017 12:30 (seven years ago)

"Walking like a monkey, for some reason..."
― The Doug Walters of Crime (Tom D.), Thursday, 14 September 2017 21:03 (seven years ago)
I haven't had the time to listen to this enough so I'm not too familiar with, let's say the second half, but I really like the beginning of the album :"Walls of Glass" track has a Bowie/Berlin vibe to it with the krautrock approach and the title that go very well together ("wall", "glass", the words ring a bell !)."Paper Crown" is a good follow up as it also has a Bowie/Berlin feel (more Lodger maybe). Then Matt's two moody and melancholic tracks and Ronan's creepy cinematographic piece.
― AlXTC from Paris, Friday, 15 September 2017 08:37 (seven years ago)
i might do a re-record with better sound at some point, now i'm not trying to do it while on holiday.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Friday, 15 September 2017 10:13 (seven years ago)
Listening to imago's track I kept thinking, what does that remind me of? Then I realized he sounds exactly like someone I used to be in a band with, even the song sound like one of his.
― The Doug Walters of Crime (Tom D.), Friday, 15 September 2017 11:21 (seven years ago)
he sounds like a fookin legend
