album sounds good on first listen, reminds me of Massive Attack, 90s vibe

apparently the album was recorded in a room without windows. dark, intense stuff.

Full thing is here:

She talks about the album in an interview this month (from 1 hr 13), about how she wanted the rhythm and sound to be centred around pulse and breath.

It shouldn't matter which operating system they used tbh.

Another good reason to avoid natural light(!), it was recorded without the label knowing - and just with simple technology, and mostly with no band. A bit more detail here and ici.

I like this album a lot. It's a little unsettled, like she's sort of feeling her way toward the music she wants to make next. I love the droning bass tones, whatever's producing them.

seven months pass...

Today this feels to me like my favorite performance in the world:

five years pass...

I missed her album from last year, Il Viagio. It's very low-key. Some of the torch-song stuff but more splintered and dispersed. Makes me think of Roger Robinson in places, Tricky maybe, the last Low album. It's great, obviously.

I would prefer not to. (Chinaski), Thursday, 7 March 2024 20:49 (one year ago)

yeah i need to do some catching up with her
