This album formed the backbone of about 75% of the parties I went to during my sophomore year of college. You can make an argument for every single song on here but which one is your favorite?

The weakest song on here IMO is "Playground", which is kind of ridiculous.

Coincidentally, this was my college freshman year in a nutshell: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MTV_Party_to_Go_1998

Anne of the Thousand Gays (Eric H.), Monday, 23 October 2017 19:35 (seven years ago)

That P.M. Dawn track samples Spandau Ballet and manages to do something great with it.

Gholdfish Killah (Turrican), Monday, 23 October 2017 19:35 (seven years ago)

Tough choice here between '3AM Eternal' and 'Summertime.'

he doesn't need to be racist about it though. (Austin), Monday, 23 October 2017 19:39 (seven years ago)

This is one of the greatest comps ever released.

OTM^infinity

"Summertime," just over the reset of them.

Anne of the Thousand Gays (Eric H.), Monday, 23 October 2017 19:56 (seven years ago)

painfully grim flashback-inducer for me

I guess it's between the KLF and OPP really

Οὖτις, Monday, 23 October 2017 19:57 (seven years ago)

I feel like Sadeness was the song every girl wanted to make out too, except for the one I ended up marrying (who wanted to make out to Black Sabbath)

Οὖτις, Monday, 23 October 2017 19:58 (seven years ago)

Do not sleep on "All 4 Love", a song so good it made me stop hating the Color Me Badd singles that preceded it. (Okay, I do still hate "I Adore Mi Amor" but not as much as I used to; thanks, "All 4 Love"!)

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Monday, 23 October 2017 20:02 (seven years ago)

I don't know if I necessarily know the particular remixes, but based on the songs themselves I'll go with "Set Adrift" over "O.P.P."

I can't recall the Another Bad Creation, Color Me Badd or C+C Music Factory songs based on the titles alone, but I'm sure I'd know 'em if I heard 'em.

crypto, here's the Color Me Badd song. It rules.

This collection is segued so perfectly -- it's like the best deejay at the best house party I hit my senior year of high school. All it was missing was "Gypsy Woman," "It Ain't Over Til It's Over," and "Every Heartbeat."

(well, no on the last one; that's at my fantasy house party)

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 23 October 2017 20:23 (seven years ago)

This comp makes parties back then seem so more fun than parties nowadays.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Monday, 23 October 2017 20:39 (seven years ago)

"Playground". I love this remix.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 23 October 2017 21:00 (seven years ago)

This is a great compilation.

I can't remember these comps ever making it to continental Europe? I'm sure they would've been present in my circles if these'd been around, or we missed them somehow.

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 23 October 2017 21:08 (seven years ago)

Going with "Motownphilly."

Eazy, Monday, 23 October 2017 21:09 (seven years ago)

I can only remember one Color Me Badd song, and it's... not this one!

Gholdfish Killah (Turrican), Monday, 23 October 2017 21:24 (seven years ago)

Color Me Badd was basically a terrible joke for two singles and then they released this one, which was such a jump up in quality that I didn't believe it was the same group for about a week.

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Monday, 23 October 2017 21:25 (seven years ago)

Whoa did not realise '3AM Eternal' did as well on the Billboard Hot 100 as it did.

nashwan, Monday, 23 October 2017 21:44 (seven years ago)

Nothing quite sounded like it -- the mishmash of "Simon Says" keys, arena rock, and Aurora. Perfect late summer hit.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 23 October 2017 21:47 (seven years ago)

I chose "Motownphilly", but I would have voted for "Poison" by BBD if it were on here.

Moodles, Monday, 23 October 2017 21:57 (seven years ago)

Yeah, this Color Me Badd track is nice, and surprising, as I didn't even like "I Wanna Sex You Up" or "Mi Amore" at the time.

iCloudius (cryptosicko), Tuesday, 24 October 2017 00:12 (seven years ago)

People, do not ignore "Here We Go Let's Rock & Roll," superior to "Gonna Make You Sweat" and not played as much.

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 24 October 2017 00:28 (seven years ago)

That P.M. Dawn track samples Spandau Ballet and manages to do something great with it.

― Gholdfish Killah (Turrican), Monday, October 23, 2017 3:35 PM

I'll go further: it made "True" exist for the purpose of being sampled.

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 24 October 2017 00:28 (seven years ago)

K7's timeless classic 'Come Baby Come' missing from this compilation... heh heh heh...

Gholdfish Killah (Turrican), Tuesday, 24 October 2017 06:47 (seven years ago)

It got 0 votes in the Jock Jams poll.

naus, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 09:52 (seven years ago)

I chose "Motownphilly", but I would have voted for "Poison" by BBD if it were on here.

I see that 'Poison' was on Volume 1. Amusingly so is 'Personal Jesus'.

nashwan, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 10:17 (seven years ago)

OMG, this was one of like ten CDs that soundtracked my junior/senior years of high school. I see that it was released in May of '92, which means I somehow stumbled upon this CD four years after it was released. "Set Adrift.." is definitely the one I'm sure I'd still love if I listened to it again.

Rod Steel (musicfanatic), Tuesday, 24 October 2017 14:41 (seven years ago)

The mix of "OPP" on here is sublime. Much better than the "real" version.

Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 25 October 2017 19:57 (seven years ago)

Def “motownphilly,” obvious choice

The vote so nice I said it twice

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 25 October 2017 20:16 (seven years ago)

I think there at least 5 different obvious choices (including "Motownphilly")

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Wednesday, 25 October 2017 20:19 (seven years ago)

The problem is these are all obvious choices.

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 25 October 2017 20:23 (seven years ago)

oh im not saying this isn't a great comp across the board

'summertime' is prob also on that level, now that i think about it, though

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 25 October 2017 23:03 (seven years ago)

Not too hard, not too soft

brimstead, Wednesday, 25 October 2017 23:22 (seven years ago)

This is a pretty amazing comp.
Gotta go salt n pepa

i believe that (s)he is sincere (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 26 October 2017 00:33 (seven years ago)

All of these were big hits in the UK except Another Bad Creation which I don't think I've ever heard. Maybe Martin Fry intimidated them into submission.

nashwan, Thursday, 26 October 2017 10:09 (seven years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Monday, 30 October 2017 00:01 (seven years ago)

Now poll the rest of the series.

Mr. Snrub, Monday, 30 October 2017 00:05 (seven years ago)

"Good Vibrations" (Ultimix Remix) – Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch featuring Loleatta Holloway 0

God hasn't forgiven him yet.

iCloudius (cryptosicko), Monday, 30 October 2017 04:18 (seven years ago)

Wow, even though I voted for it, I didn't expect 3am to take it.

he doesn't need to be racist about it though. (Austin), Monday, 30 October 2017 08:56 (seven years ago)
