requires RealAudio, I think, which is 'blocked' on my (work) computer. so have a listen if you can, and then post on this thread about it. cheers

I just get an error message, sorry. Direct link is http://www2.lesinrocks.com/http:%2F%2Freal3.isdnet.net%2Framgen%2Finrocks%2FMusique%2F1002%2Fthe_streets-mix.rm.

JoB (JoB), Monday, 11 November 2002 14:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Clever, JoB! I couldn't figure out how to save it to disk. If you want to just listen to it, the direct link for that is

http://real3.isdnet.net/ramgen/inrocks/Musique/1002/the_streets-mix.rm

a mix of garridge and hiphop and the MAN HIMSELF doing a vocal set over the top of it!! it's funny hearing him interact with the vocals already on the record, it's sort of like he's round your place singing along - SKINNERAOKE

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 11 November 2002 14:42 (twenty-three years ago)

blueski, Monday, 11 November 2002 15:03 (twenty-three years ago)

oi, despite JoB's link i can't seem to get the actual music to download to my computer and i'm afraid they'll take this off the site at some point - anybody know how to DL this thing?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 11 November 2002 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

this is ace. is it possible to save it to disk or will it only stream?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Monday, 11 November 2002 16:15 (twenty-three years ago)

you can record it to your hard drive if you have a sound recorder program like Soundforge...even Windows standard Sound Recorder might do it - just make sure the soundcard settings are set to record its own output (e.g. if you were playing a cd in the pc's cd drive you could record it to hard drive this way too)

blueski, Monday, 11 November 2002 16:20 (twenty-three years ago)

As much as I want to see Mike Skinner view his entire family murdered by a pack of lions, this seems like quite a good mix. But please tell me that "less Ave It" is him trying out irony?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 11 November 2002 16:29 (twenty-three years ago)

less = Let's, presumably

since i "found" this (haha) can I be the first to request from whoever is able to record the mix that they burn me a copy? ta! :)

zebedee, Monday, 11 November 2002 16:35 (twenty-three years ago)

or stick it on ssk alternatively?

s magnet, Monday, 11 November 2002 17:19 (twenty-three years ago)

NOT alternatively, but in addition, sure :-)

zebedee, Monday, 11 November 2002 17:21 (twenty-three years ago)

i'll record the mix sometime this week - cant specify when unfortunately (and now is not a good time) - i'll let you know when its online

blueski, Monday, 11 November 2002 17:59 (twenty-three years ago)

oops, sorry zebedee!

s magnet, Monday, 11 November 2002 18:33 (twenty-three years ago)

(in case you missed this yesterday - hi Tom!)

Jeff W, Tuesday, 12 November 2002 18:17 (twenty-three years ago)

wow- this is good - dare I say, better than the things I've heard from OPM.

anyone got room to host the stereo version for a day for us impoverished mac users? pretty please?

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 02:59 (twenty-three years ago)

i thought iconz was only a local atl hit!!

ep, Wednesday, 13 November 2002 09:48 (twenty-three years ago)

THANK YOU, blueski

zebedee, Wednesday, 13 November 2002 10:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Can I add my pleas to Toby's???

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 11:52 (twenty-three years ago)

i can upload the stereo version as well but its pretty hefty - do you really need the stereo? its only radio quality in the first place after all!

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 12:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh okay, maybe don't worry then. Thanks for uploading the mono version anyways!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 12:06 (twenty-three years ago)

(i'd still like the stereo version but only if it's no prob - i'm on a v fast connection so downloading isn't a worry...)

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 13:55 (twenty-three years ago)

eight months pass...
there's a 128kb stereo version of this floating around on the filesharers. you should really hear it, if you hadn't. method man as jungle mc. jay-z as 'terry'. mike skinner as one of redman's dogs. me realizing how pretty 'dance tonight' actually is. 'who we be' being both more and less cartoonish than i remember it.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Sunday, 27 July 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

its still online here and its still utterly brilliant

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 27 July 2003 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Are there any SoulSeek users I can add to d/l this? Cheers.

Sylv, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 21:57 (twenty-two years ago)

er, why don't you just d/l it from the link above?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 22:04 (twenty-two years ago)

The quality's shite. Know any users?

Sylv, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

steve, have you listened to that Geeza - I Know You Don't Like Me - track on Xfm yet, sounds across between Audio Bullys and The Sisters of Mercy

DJ Martian (djmartian), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

quality schmality

not heard that track yet Martian but will look out for it

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 22:40 (twenty-two years ago)

its unlikely you'll find a better quality version than 64kbps mono/128 stereo (pretty much the same quality as i understand it) unless there was a better quality version on The Streets own site (i think it was on there at one point), but i doubt this was higher than 128 stereo anyway

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 22:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i dloaded it off ya steve...its fuckn great. "where my dogs at...oi thats me THAT-IS-ME"
