What IS this music?

on saturday i went to an uber-trendy club in hoxton called 333. after dropping some beanz (geeeezahhhh) we went down stairs to the dnb room, and became confused, disorientated, invigorated. the zestiest music i've heard in a long time was playing but i haven't a clue what it was. manifested were the aggressive tech components of drum and bass, but slower with equally dark basslines, yet fidgety and detached. dancing to it was like picking sticky bits of nettles from your jeans. it didn't sound like what i'd consider 'break beat', but maybe i'm wrong. it was only playing for around half an hour, so i got the impression that the dj was trying something out. can anyone help? perhaps i need to try and explain myself more clearly...

Bwah hah hah hah hah hah hah!

Oh dear lord, and here was me thinking "my god, the music pumping up from downstairs is sounding worse than usual... where are the supermodels? there's no one in here but tourists, where's my free vodka, dammit?"

From your description, it sounds like the sort of thing they usually play in the Secret Basement of Dance, but I'm not good with genre names, my housemate would know, but I'm avoiding him due to the white russian incident.

sounds like Bodyrock style drum and bass ...

Try searching for Bodyrock by Andy C and Shimon on soulseek and see if that's the style you were listening to...

"333 is rubbish!"

yes, but i read in the Guardian that that's the club to go to if you want to be a trebdy shoreditch geezah.

i initially thought it was breaks but it seemed so much darker... perhaps i'm just out of the loop.
