It doesn't have to be an artist it can be a band member but, let's face it, it's likely to be the singer in that band. If it's not the singer you can talk about that also.
Do you overrate certain artists based on desire rather than ability/ output.
Do you overrate certain artists based on desire rather than ability/ output but that has worked out well because it made you more interested in said artist or has it made you realise that that was mostly or significantly lust/desire and you can set them aside once the lust dissipates.
I was thinking about this because I heard a track - "Anthropocene" - by Peter Oren, which I really loved. I was curious enough about him to look further and, fuck me, this guy is handsome as fuck and (yes) young and pretty ripped. I mean he's completely my fantasy type which made me look further. I have to say that the fact he was clearly straight both disappointed me and piqued my interest (I mostly fancy straight men/ Not that it matters in this case because I am out of the league of Peter Oren/ this doesn't stop me or curtail my interest)
contrarily, this may also be something that turns you off someone. Like for e.g., you might like this guy's music but be put off, even as a straight man, by how good looking he is.
This isn't a thread about PO though and you don't have to find him attractive or hateful or care anything about him. I'm interested in the extent to which your musical taste is formed by your sexual or romantic taste.

This does not have to be reconciled. Attraction, appreciation, and respect are not in conflict. God.

I mean, the guy I'm dating only fancies straight men, so I'm not even sure where I fall in line w.r.t taking the blame.

love of an artist work sometimes creates a "romantic" interest in them for me but I never find myself swayed in either direction about an artist's work because of their looks. If anything, I sometimes find artists attractive based on their work that are not otherwise especially hot to me.
