The Urge to Make NOISE!!!

Whenever I am trashed, I love to make noise tapes using whatever is at hand. I have a self-coded audio manipulation toolkit on my pc. I record ambient records through its filters while spinning them at the wrong rpm. Then I usually make a lot of amp noise. And then I do a little free form percussion and mix the whole mess together.

Does anyone else do this kinda crap?

Yes, I did a couple of tracks under the name of "DJ SuperGhost" that was me screaming over heavily distorted and sped up drums. It was a bit like Destroy 2, and was quite fun. Also I did some Masonna-style all-vocal noise tracks, but they didn't turn out quite as good as DJ SuperGhost.

I love drumming drunk! Seriously so much fun... god...

I did more of this a few years back, although I only had a guitar, "Grunge" pedal and amp at my disposal. I would tape the results onto a little tape recorder and listen to them later. More often than not, they were unlistenable, but occasionally some interesting passages would occur.

Yup, I used to do this under the name "DJ Butcher"... mostly to annoy my friends.

usually when i'm making music i'm just searching for good rhythms and tones, but every once in a while it feels good to just lash out and fill some tape with ugly synth noise and feedback, although ultimately i hope to find something in it to reign in and use in a hot beat, etc.. also, a few years ago when i played drums constantly, it occasionally spiced up practice time to blast a noise tape a guy i knew sent me and play over it, just to have some arrhythmic sound to play against.

Good lord yes! I have become known as "de freek" thanks to my tendency to lock the door of my room and get busy with synth, amp, and out of tune piano. Putting things too loudly into overdriven mixer inputs, through nasty pedals... wreck the gaff!

I really liked making noise with my buddies at WUTK back in the day. Rig up all the gear we could fit or find use for and plug it into one of the inputs on the broadcast mixer, then get revenge at the world for two hours or more, every Monday night once the clock struck twelve. This was an excellent arrangement since it was the station's monitors being victimized, and not my poor little stereo at home. Currently my boombox has about had it with nearly three years of abuse at the hands of my machinery and I.
I need to move out and buy some monitors with real cones.

Feel free to comment on my noise crap if you listen to it. :D

YAY, I like it. I would be better in stereo, but that's what I often say about mono recordings. I like the way pulses in some parts, and Bit Rot has a cool ending. Also (this is probably just because of the format), but I think it needs more high pitch and low pitch noise in it. cool overall.

for original question: usually when i'm making music I just lash out and fill some tape (or computer memory) with ugly synth (guitar) noise and feedback (or just random sounds), but every once in a while it feels good to just search for good rhythms and tones.
My two favorite kinds of music are the extremely noisy and the extremely calm.
