Ashanti 'Happy'

i prefer this infinitely to Nelly/Kelly or any other Irv Gotti/Moider Inc stuff i've heard so far...hard to say why. i think its just something in the notes, the voices, the pattern, the way the chorus line lingers and things seem unresolved or somehow lost...reminds me a bit of Mary J's 'Be Happy' (not just title similarity) tho this is a bit more upbeat and lighter.

i also think the new J Lo track 'Jenny From The Block' is best she's done since 'Play' - for its 'busy-ness' i think...and i've got a thing about flutes...

i appear to be trying to make some sort of point about how easy it seems to be for artists you generally dont have time for to suddenly knock out a track that gets you somehow, even when the track itself is not particularly better than the ones you disliked. i guess this is quite a random and fickle thing. i probably wont even download this Ashanti track or this J Lo track though. this is just one level above indifference and tolerance i guess. liking tracks but not even bothering to download them! oh the frivalousness of it all

Some article somewhere noted the ecstacyness of Gotti tracks or something and I'll say I've appreciated the trippy production of "Happy." There's all kind of echoes and weird keyboard wooshes. Psychedelic rap and it ain't even being hyped as such. Free lunch!
