According to a story at W Magazine, the band has already impressed Elton John and Ryan Adams - a friend of the singer's mom! (she is evidently a photographer) - produced the Rough Trade debut that was just released last week. The singer is only eighteen yet she has no problem saying a song is "about giving head, whatever." Precocious! Evidently the guy from My Chemical Romance also name-checked them.
But I don't care about all of that (okay, it's kind of interesting), the album rocks in an unpretentious way that hits all the sweet spots in what I like about both metal, punk and dare I say pop music.

Last year I fell for The Regrettes, another Los Angeles band of teenagers with a female lead singer. I might like their debut a little bit more but it's close.

As someone who lived in Ohio, I wish there were bands this good there when I was there.
Regrettes have better songs but Starcrawler have attitude... I would like to imagine a world where they are the Beatles to Starcrawler's Stones (or Slayer to Metallica) although Tiffany to Debbie Gibson is also apt.

totally different sound but I as far as LA rock pastiche goes I like that L.A. Witch band a lot they seem to transcend their cops a lot better

I liked Morningwood, and I liked the Runaways, but I hate this. They remind me of the Orwells, a really shitty "punk" band Roadrunner almost signed while I was there.
