nelly - headbands, band-aids

nirvana - flannel

abc and kris kross - backwards and inside out clothing (hehehehehe)

JasonD (JasonD), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 01:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Bros - strategically ripped too-blue jeans, biker jackets, Grolsch bottle tops on shoes.

Pulp/Suede/Saint Etienne - triple-handedly revived the noble art of charity shop/op-shop/thrist store shopping.

Orbital - those stupid fucking glasses with the lights on.

thrist=thrift, duh.

Charlie (Charlie), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 01:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Ibiza compilations with wide-faced women sporting those stupid fucking frameless tint sunglasses on the cover.

Can anybody make a case for why on Earth fat laces haven't come back yet?

Andy, Wednesday, 13 November 2002 02:21 (twenty-three years ago)

but has there ever been another song about a specific garment that was as influential as "My Adidas"? wu-wear doesn't cut it.

My Addidas came out in '86

i was in highschool in 90-94. everyone was wearing shell toes and fat laces. the resurgance probably had something to do with the beastie boys rocking them

JasonD (JasonD), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 02:37 (twenty-three years ago)

...hooold up! unless I'm being a twit, I was always under the impression that Run DMC wore NO LACES AT ALL in their Adidas!

Help!

Charlie (Charlie), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 02:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Fat laces are still around. They're on Vans, now, and the Sum 41/Linkin Park fanbase wears them to school.

What about 'I like girls who wear abercrombie and fitch?'

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 17:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I will also say Madonna during her plastic bracelets and head band years, all the girls wanted to be like her.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 17:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Sigh.. if only "The Thong Song" had become such an anthem....

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 18:11 (twenty-three years ago)

But Sterling! How well can you wear a thong?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 18:52 (twenty-three years ago)

"the cut-off jean shorts? what was the song??"

-i believe the song was actually called daisy dukes except it employed some silly incomprehensible spelling.

this was in the early 90's, maybe?

jq higgins, Wednesday, 13 November 2002 19:28 (twenty-three years ago)

They outlawed daisy dukes at my high school. You couldn't wear dolphins or show your "bare midriff" either. Shorts on boys had to be BELOW the knee (not on girls though, huh).

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 20:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Listen to Charlie, fools, it was all about the "jail shoes".
