They have an upcoming tour in the US so it made me think of this album.

I think I've only ever heard three songs off this album.

Embalming is a flirty business (DJP), Thursday, 1 March 2018 02:54 (seven years ago)

The Bad Plus's version of "Maps" did make me interested in listening to this. Probably a good time.

No purposes. Sounds. (Sund4r), Thursday, 1 March 2018 03:04 (seven years ago)

Date With The Night is what I go back to these days.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 1 March 2018 03:28 (seven years ago)

They never made a record better than It's Blitz!, IMO.

Full of bile and Blue Nile denial (Turrican), Thursday, 1 March 2018 07:07 (seven years ago)

it's blitz is the only albums of theirs i go back to these days

ufo, Thursday, 1 March 2018 07:33 (seven years ago)

I did re-listen to this today and the singles do stand out. I love the raw power this album has overall. I couldn't get past how brilliant "Maps" still is.

Maps!

kolakube (Ross), Friday, 2 March 2018 02:02 (seven years ago)

Maps and Y Control are the obvious standouts, but I'm tempted to go for Pin. It's the song that won me round.

Agree with Turrican and ufo that It's Blitz is by far their best work. Shame that they didn't continue that winning streak with Mosquito.

I'm thinking about going to their show this week, they are playing with LCD Soundsystem.

"Date With The Night"

Blue Room, Saturday, 3 March 2018 19:04 (seven years ago)

i remember polling It's Blitz and agree it's their best. voting "Maps."

Bee OK, Saturday, 3 March 2018 21:05 (seven years ago)

Maps is undeniably incredible even though the title still doesn't make any sense to me and I don't now what Maps is supposed to mean (I don't buy that "My Angus Please Stay" story).

Really? Huh. I never thought to question it.

It’s Blitz really is is great but this album holds a special place in my heart. I saw them in London when they toured for this album and I don’t think I’d ever been as immediately blown away by a lead singer as I was by KO.

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Saturday, 3 March 2018 23:23 (seven years ago)

"Really? Huh. I never thought to question it." the explanation or why she's singing "maps, they don't love you like I love you"? I mean that sounds like she is really into cartography. It's not M.A.P.S., it's 'maps'. And this story about her actually crying in the video because Angus didn't show up...it's not like the song was written the time the video was shot. This all sounds like apocryphal stretching to me.

akm, Sunday, 4 March 2018 00:00 (seven years ago)

I just imagined it like she could tell someone was planning to leave her and consulting figurative or literal maps that will show him the path out of there.

I had never heard that this was about someone named Angus. Now it's gonna make me think about 6 dollar burgers.

Haven't heard the rest of this album either. I just had the Maps single. I should get around to fixing that I guess.
