Perhaps I've overestimated the appeal of this music compilation.

haha! i think i owned this on ... double 10-inch records? is that right?
ummm, I remember the pollard /deal thing being great ... the farrar/willis TVZ duet is killer. trying to remember "still flat".

i LOOOOOOOVVVVEEEEDDDD this compilation for a couple of years. Many of these tracks went onto mix tapes and maybe even mix CDs.

it's me, the only vote for "The Mirror is Gone"

It's a fine song but I was so heavy into that era of Lisa Germano that it feels somewhat minor in context.

The blend of Rebecca Gates and Lois Maffeo's voices on the Cradle Robbers track is so inspired and perfect that every time I hear it I feel bereft that that's all we ever got.

i had a 10" that only had 5 of these songs. sensational gravity boy the only one i can remember. it's a good hook.

I bought the two comps around the same time so I can't remember if 'Sensational Gravity Boy' or one of the tracks off of What's Up Matador were the first time Pollard grabbed my attention and kicked off my extended obsession with his work.

whenever i listened to "sensational gravity boy" it made me hope that there was a full album of Pollard / Deal duets sitting in Bob's basement. he probably would've put it out by now, I guess.

Breeders cover of 'Shocker in Gloomtown' is about as close as you'll get, unfortch.

What's Up Matador

Now *that* was a big compilation album. Apparently not been polled here either.

Yeah, that one and this thread's titular comp sent me down numerous previously-unexplored musical byways. And they both were way better than any V/A odd and sods collections had any right to be.

do not know this one, but please poll "offbeat: a red hot sound trip" and "america is dying slowly" next

East River Pipe gives me all the feels.

probably 3 full albums and an EP, and this would be the only song you like.
