Album Title Devices: C/D?

I don't understand why the title of Sigur Ros' new album is interesting. Apparently some people find it upsetting or are bothered that people find it upsetting or something, but neither the title or its implications are particularly interesting to me (though I have an interest in the band.)

So, how about odd album titling devices in general, like those used by Peter Gabriel, Chicago, and so on. Do you go for this sort of thing?

Depends on the band - more often than not it's horribly "self-indulgent" innit?

I much prefer releasing multiple s/t albums so people have to refer to them by album cover rather than name. Cf. the VU and Weezer.

i dunno, i like a clever title. the books 'thought for food' is my favorite of the year. and the song names... to die for!

I like it when the name of the artist is changed, like 'Dukes of Stratosphear' or 'Chris Gaines'

Huh? One is The Velvet Underground and Nico, the other one is The Velvet Underground. Those are hardly the same names.

I always liked Royal Trux having a S/T'd LP and an untitled LP.

It annoys me. I want insight dammit. That said Orbital's non-titled albums are better than their titled ones on the whole.

TS: "Zoso" vs. "Led Zeppelin IV" vs. "The Runes Album"

See I consider that a device & I love it too. Gabriel.

Trotsky Icepick originally had the big idea of keeping the album title the same (Poison Summer) while changing the name of the band every album. The first album was by Danny and the Doorknobs, and they adopted the band name Trotsky Icepick for the second, after which they abandoned their big concept and just stuck with TI.
