Dangleballs and the Ballerina (cryptosicko), Saturday, 3 March 2018 20:00 (seven years ago)

This one is unquestionably "Never Say Never," for me.

Dangleballs and the Ballerina (cryptosicko), Saturday, 3 March 2018 20:01 (seven years ago)

Not unquestionably but, yeah, I'm gonna agree.

Could easily have gone for Golden Earring, ABC, or The Church.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Saturday, 3 March 2018 21:01 (seven years ago)

of course it's OK to take over this, have no idea why i stopped at only doing five of these. i guess i'm back from my hiatus on ILM. hi everyone!

Bee OK, Saturday, 3 March 2018 21:03 (seven years ago)

"The Unguarded Moment"

Bee OK, Saturday, 3 March 2018 21:04 (seven years ago)

I refuse to believe it's possible to vote for anything other than The Look Of Love in this poll

had (crüt), Saturday, 3 March 2018 21:26 (seven years ago)

these are all good but I kind of like the Men at Work track the best.

akm, Saturday, 3 March 2018 21:45 (seven years ago)

are men at work new wave? I never thought so.

akm, Saturday, 3 March 2018 21:46 (seven years ago)

Never Say Never is probably objectively the best, but I voted Wot.

how's life, Saturday, 3 March 2018 22:01 (seven years ago)

dunno any of these (although I really like the first Bongos album, I've never heard anything after it):

7. Face to Face - Code Blue
9. Numbers with Wings - The Bongos
12. Never Say Never - Romeo Void
13. The Unguarded Moment - The Church
14. Second Choice - Any Trouble
15. A Woman's Got the Power - The A's

any good? presumably Never Say Never is worth a listen since 3 people like it already

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 March 2018 22:23 (seven years ago)

JOHNNY ARE YOU QUEER?

flappy bird, Saturday, 3 March 2018 22:33 (seven years ago)

Talk Talk or Sparks I reckon

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 March 2018 22:35 (seven years ago)

It was between 'The Look of Love' and one other one, and I decided to go with the one that I wanted to listen to right now - so 'Talk Talk' it is.

Full of bile and Blue Nile denial (Turrican), Saturday, 3 March 2018 22:43 (seven years ago)

Never Say Never is great!

had (crüt), Sunday, 4 March 2018 00:09 (seven years ago)

One gripe: the comp used the censored version of the song for some reason.

Dangleballs and the Ballerina (cryptosicko), Sunday, 4 March 2018 00:10 (seven years ago)

What a fantastic series this is. New wave music is so fucking good.

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 4 March 2018 00:27 (seven years ago)

XP The proper version of NSN landed on the JCGE New Wave Women set that dropped a few years later.

...some of y'all too woke to function (C. Grisso/McCain), Sunday, 4 March 2018 00:32 (seven years ago)

Tough call, but I'll never miss the opportunity to vote for Romeo Void.

he doesn't need to be racist about it though. (Austin), Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:03 (seven years ago)

Johnny are you Queer?

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:14 (seven years ago)

Twilight Zone is an odd inclusion, it's not new wave at all.

Siegbran, Sunday, 4 March 2018 09:32 (seven years ago)

The video was.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Sunday, 4 March 2018 13:59 (seven years ago)

Never Say Never or Do You Really Want to Hurt Me, but possibly People Who Died. Of course, the ABC song is sublime, but I don't think it's fair to put it in the running.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 4 March 2018 14:02 (seven years ago)

The piledriver man drove me berserk.

El Tomboto, Sunday, 4 March 2018 14:20 (seven years ago)

I think these were designed with a US audience in mind, so Twilight Zone and Who Can It Be Now? were definitely considered new wave to our ears compared to, like, Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 4 March 2018 14:33 (seven years ago)

Even if it is the edited version, I voted Never Say Never. I'm never not gonna vote for Never Say Never.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 4 March 2018 14:34 (seven years ago)

He said 'Tombot'
I said 'Wot?'

how's life, Sunday, 4 March 2018 15:16 (seven years ago)

White Girl

kornrulez6969, Sunday, 4 March 2018 16:01 (seven years ago)

Johnny, Are You Queer? - Josie Cotton

Eh?

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Sunday, 4 March 2018 16:08 (seven years ago)

Was going White Girl for certain then saw Never Say Never. Hurts my brain on Sunday morning to have to choose. Staying with White Girl.

that's not my post, Sunday, 4 March 2018 16:24 (seven years ago)

yeah this is ABC.

campreverb, Sunday, 4 March 2018 16:40 (seven years ago)

...some of y'all too woke to function (C. Grisso/McCain), Sunday, 4 March 2018 17:16 (seven years ago)

(Really it should be "Never Say Never" but...) One of the very few times I've heard a song for the first time and said "This should be an enormous hit" was "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me."

Actually, I saw the video, and the full thought was "This should be an enormous hit, and that is one unattractive woman."

Hideous Lump, Sunday, 4 March 2018 20:56 (seven years ago)

the three of these that I've loved the most would be White Girl, the Look of Love and Numbers with Wings. doesn't seem right to call White Girl new wave, for me (never seen this studio footage with Ray Manzarek before), so ABC.

by the light of the burning Citroën, Sunday, 4 March 2018 21:04 (seven years ago)

Maybe that young man was made uncomfortable by Josie Cotton's advances because she looked like Liza Minneli.

how's life, Sunday, 4 March 2018 23:37 (seven years ago)

White Girl. (Lot of good songs here)

o. nate, Monday, 5 March 2018 02:28 (seven years ago)

Hey C. Gris thank you for that link. I had no idea about any of that esp the Go-Gos version. :D

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Monday, 5 March 2018 20:01 (seven years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Thursday, 8 March 2018 00:01 (seven years ago)

I will be the lone vote for "People Who Died."

the future is now, Thursday, 8 March 2018 00:24 (seven years ago)

I may vote for that!

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 8 March 2018 01:33 (seven years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Friday, 9 March 2018 00:01 (seven years ago)

Nice work everyone. How about Volume 7?

kornrulez6969, Friday, 9 March 2018 17:04 (seven years ago)

By all means...

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Friday, 9 March 2018 20:46 (seven years ago)
