How do you go from obtaining to being in 'De manière à obtenir un creux' ('So as to be a hole')? Some freeform translations in here…

Yeah I don’t get that either. The editor offered the more literal translation of that one in the performance notes but apparently wanted to put a spin on it in this score.

Though on the other hand I have droned on before about the identification of the desire to possess with the desire to become so maybe this makes sense to me.
