After this angry review, I'm wondering what other people think. I'm about half way through it right now. The lack of 'field-recordings' is a bit of a let down tho.

Btw, with the review, isn't the strength of Godspeed political ambivalence? Yes, it ties into the tired model of PoMo 'conspiranoia' as kitsch; but on another level w/ globalization.

The X-Files, hijacking a line from Zizek; post-political, so much is apparently happening 'out there' because there's nothing much happening right here - so, the vague and overwrought packaging which merely hints at a greater "something". Maybe?

Leavin politics, etc. aside... is the new GYBE! worth getting over older stuff that I am already familiar with? I tend to like noisy stuff (Black Dice, Unwound, etc.) and I've heard this is more chaotic. Is it good though?

If you don't have F# A# oo then its a good idea to get that. I couldn't tell you how the new album is in relation to the old ones not having heard the new on yet.
