i'm leaning toward the sin of pride today. sounds so good. "love before romance" is such a pretty song. also, positive touch production always kinda bums me out. the songs are good but they needed better sound. too mushy.

I don't know the answer to this cos it's been a long long time since I listened to either, but my default position is to go for the one with It's Going To Happen on it

i don't think anyone listens to these albums anymore.

"Positive Touch" is far better than "The Sin Of Pride". "Julie Ocean" and "It's Going To Happen" are highlights vs, ummmmm, "The Love Parade" is all I can recall from the latter.

prices going up all the time here for punk and post punk albums, but these are two that i always see going really cheaply

too produced for the punx, too under-the-radar for 80s pop revivalists
I just have best-ofs but yeah I prefer the earlier one

possible challops: i'd take the first that petrol emotion album over either of them any day of the week

ooh that's a good point!

I definitely like "Big Decision" more than the later Undertones tracks
― sleeve, Friday, 4 May 2018 17:44 (seven years ago)
that is so not challops. first TPE is WAY better than these albums.
― scott seward, Friday, 4 May 2018 17:45 (seven years ago)
pound for pound, "it's a good thing" as good as any undertones. almost.
― scott seward, Friday, 4 May 2018 17:47 (seven years ago)
still an amazing song imo

Such a good thing.

when that 1st album came out we had no idea how dorky that lead singer would end up being. we were blissfully ignorant.
when i bought that album the too cool clerk at tower in nyc looked at it and said "that's a good album..." in that awesome too cool way that meant "i'm too cool to say stuff is cool but i can't deny the goodness here..." like it hurt to compliment it.
i'll never forget that for some weird reason!

LIke Positive Touch quite a bit, can't even remember ever listening to The Sin of Pride.
