no 'some of them' option ?

mark e, Thursday, 24 May 2018 15:04 (seven years ago)

counts as "yes"

I’m not a music person so not voting, but I haven’t responded to a single one of these even tho some are probably quite important/useful - like everything it’s best to just let them pile up to an unmanageable degree, to be dealt with at a future point when I will presumably be a completely different, much more competent person

fair enough Katherine.
it is lovely to think that a lot of them that I never signed up for, and never have had a decent unsubscribe option will no longer be incoming.

I was at a conference over the weekend where the cocktail napkins were printed w/ a tiny GDPR consent checkbox – for exchanging contact info w/ppl you meet. Pretty clever!

I would respond to some yes but with a drink in one hand

Whatever you feel is best for your job

ok, the frequency in the last couple of hours has increased massively.
I guess people are taking this seriously.
personally, I doubt things will change that much other than a lovely 'unsubscribe' option at the bottom of each email.
basically - I very much doubt any PR crews are actually going to get dragged through courts for sending a few emails.

I am responsible for this at work and am pretty surprised at the size of some of the companies who are getting the emails wrong in one way or another. Really telling about how they are run. Apparently ICO are going to be making examples of a few big companies later in the year, so that should be fun.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Thursday, 24 May 2018 17:48 (seven years ago)

and that's my point : 'big companies'.
not little music PR crews.
yeah, the big buggers better be complying.
I seem to recall that in the legal jargon there is a fair bit of wriggle room i.e. so long as companies can prove they have at least started the process of complying then they will not be dragged over the coals.

Motel de moka ( my old mp3 blog) has been closed for three years now I think and I’m still receiving around 30 PR emails daily.
