I think ILM has finally convinced me that this is their best album. Sad that they only played two songs from this album when I saw them last month. They were amazing still.

laughing at myself, how come i thought they were an English band?

Bee OK, Thursday, 21 June 2018 00:07 (seven years ago)

i'm going to play like eight more times this week before i vote.

Was there ever a thread for Little Dark Age or whatever the hell their new album is? It's pretty good. Williamsburg hipsters all grown up and taking their place in the world.

right off the top for me it's Someone's Missing vs. Congratulations

there are plenty of cool tracks here though. this album is hella consistent.

Someone's Missing always makes me think of the Jackson 5

Hazy Maze Cave (Adam Bruneau), Thursday, 21 June 2018 01:08 (seven years ago)

ahem, last time i checked this album was called congratulation?

dyl, Thursday, 21 June 2018 01:28 (seven years ago)

nope, you had me question it for a moment though. it's plural.

Bee OK, Thursday, 21 June 2018 03:01 (seven years ago)

Admittedly MGMT only fully piqued my interest when I learned they'd written a song about Dan Treacy, but said song is rather good and I ended coming back to it more than any other track when the album was finally released, so probably that.

Song for Dan Tracey. those Scooby Doo organ chords in the chorus. it has like 6 hooks. ridiculously great song

flappy bird, Thursday, 21 June 2018 06:35 (seven years ago)

Can't choose from 5 songs, such a brilliant album

PaulTMA, Thursday, 21 June 2018 10:12 (seven years ago)

Was there ever a thread for Little Dark Age or whatever the hell their new album is? It's pretty good. Williamsburg hipsters all grown up and taking their place in the world.

there was never a new thread for the newer album, only an existing thread talked about the new album: Congratulation to MGMT for their upcoming album

I think I like "Flash Delirium" best, haven't heard this for a little while.

the future is now, Saturday, 23 June 2018 00:37 (seven years ago)

Can’t say I care for anything other than the new one

mind how you go (Ross), Saturday, 23 June 2018 13:23 (seven years ago)

i miscalculated this album, i thought there was a bigger cult following.

Bee OK, Saturday, 23 June 2018 21:04 (seven years ago)

but yeah Ross i agree, new album is great and i saw most songs live.

Bee OK, Saturday, 23 June 2018 21:05 (seven years ago)

but you should probably give this album another spin. it has layer and layer and layer to it. it's pretty damn good in the end.

Bee OK, Saturday, 23 June 2018 21:07 (seven years ago)

"It's Working." Wish they'd do a whole album of harpsichord psych like that one.

J. Sam, Saturday, 23 June 2018 21:17 (seven years ago)

Hey bee (one of my favourite posters) - I will !

did you get a little coin thing with the vinyl edition like you did with the cd ?

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Went for Siberian Breaks in the end, right or wrong OH WELL

PaulTMA, Monday, 25 June 2018 00:05 (seven years ago)

I ended up voting for "Siberian Breaks" but that felt like I was cheating. As that song is like three or four songs.

Bee OK, Monday, 25 June 2018 19:59 (seven years ago)

voted for Dan Treacy as i said but the title track is really special, the 'simplest' song on the record and such a perfect closer.

flappy bird, Monday, 25 June 2018 21:50 (seven years ago)

in terms of concision and simplicity in songwriting that's probably their high watermark

flappy bird, Monday, 25 June 2018 21:50 (seven years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Tuesday, 26 June 2018 00:01 (seven years ago)

If you do this poll 1,000 years from now, Brian Eno will get at least 1 point

rap is dad (it's a boy!), Friday, 29 June 2018 00:37 (seven years ago)

I honestly felt bad for not voting “Brian Eno” (“Siberian Breaks” just ended up being too towering to defeat).

You're all losing so many points on your progress bars (Champiness), Friday, 29 June 2018 02:15 (seven years ago)
