What was so obviously strange yet mystifyingly true was that this is the fourth thread with Rasputina in the title but the first devoted to them

I beg to differ (though I know I'll be on my own): The last Rasputina LP, 'O Perilous World' is a bizarre and truly amazing concept album which cuts up material straight out of the news with a range of peculiar historical texts. You haven't lived until you've heard Melora intoning what I believe are extracts from Bin Laden speeches as part of a narrative about the Pitcairn islanders. I haven't heard much by any of the other bands cited, but I have no reason to believe any of them capable of producing anything remotely as far out as this.

Wow at Rasputina! had Thanks For The Ether sitting in my room for a few years and just been listening to it, I'm surprised, very pleased and refreshed. Loving it. Had no idea they were on a big label.

So many great tracks on it, so many highlights. The spoken tracks are so odd. "Stumpside" might be my favorite, the first minute in particular is so beautifully sung.

Fucking love this album.

How We Quit The Forest is just about as good, although I still prefer the first. Was a bit surprised they had so much grunge/metal in there.

One glaring annoyance is the GAPS BETWEEN TRACKS! I've never heard this mistake on a big label release. Did they ever fix it in reissues?

The two different versions of "The Olde Headboard" are great (for some reason databases don't list the second version at the end of the album, even though it has its own track). "Diamond Mind" is hilarious, I love all her voices.

Looking forward to the next one, but on researching I see that a lot of their stuff is going to hard to find and some of it is only on vinyl.

Cabin Fever.... love "Quitter", "Sweet Water Kill (The Ocean Song)", "State Fair" and "AntiqueHighHeelRedDollShoes"

Didn't think I'd listen to the PJ Harvey, Bjork, Matthew Barney and Vincent Gallo (?) track everytime, these kind of things can get annoying but I actually kept noticing new things and thought it was pretty funny.
