Rasputina is always more interesting and has the better image, though the novelty of their act can get thin.

I beg to differ (though I know I'll be on my own): The last Rasputina LP, 'O Perilous World' is a bizarre and truly amazing concept album which cuts up material straight out of the news with a range of peculiar historical texts. You haven't lived until you've heard Melora intoning what I believe are extracts from Bin Laden speeches as part of a narrative about the Pitcairn islanders. I haven't heard much by any of the other bands cited, but I have no reason to believe any of them capable of producing anything remotely as far out as this.

Wow at Rasputina! had Thanks For The Ether sitting in my room for a few years and just been listening to it, I'm surprised, very pleased and refreshed. Loving it. Had no idea they were on a big label.
