Probably the easiest poll I've ever done on ILM.

(V) (°,,,,°) (V) (Austin), Saturday, 7 July 2018 01:46 (eight years ago)

U2 aren’t that well rated on ILM are they?

✖✖✖ (Moka), Saturday, 7 July 2018 16:14 (eight years ago)

This album is.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

supreme court justice samuel lance-ito (voodoo chili), Monday, 9 July 2018 14:14 (eight years ago)

My favourite Smog album, my favourite U2 album, and one of my favourite albums of all time

flamboyant goon tie included, Monday, 9 July 2018 14:43 (eight years ago)

Never heard of Smog and fuck U2, so an easy choice, yeah.

Tuomas, Monday, 9 July 2018 16:25 (eight years ago)

i like smog and bill callahan but i've never gotten around to Julius Caesar. i would give it a listen right now but i feel like i should first wait until i'm feeling, really, really down. shouldn't be long!
i haven't heard zooropa but i really can't stand U2.
"come to me" is one of my favorite songs ever, and there's a bunch of other great ones on Debut, so it's an easy pick for now.

Karl Malone, Monday, 9 July 2018 16:32 (eight years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

Didn't vote but would've thrown in a vote for JC.

I am no longer English Grey.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 10 July 2018 01:21 (eight years ago)

non-debut did better than i was expecting

mookieproof, Tuesday, 10 July 2018 02:28 (eight years ago)

four years pass...

happy 30th to all three

mookieproof, Wednesday, 5 July 2023 22:19 (three years ago)

Didn't vote but this would've been a tough decision. Probably Zooropa barely beating Debut. Great albums that I think share a playful spirit

Vinnie, Thursday, 6 July 2023 00:15 (three years ago)

Bjork could've sung "Babyface."

the dreaded dependent claus (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 6 July 2023 00:17 (three years ago)

I'd like to hear her do "Daddy's Gonna Pay for Your Crashed Car"

Vinnie, Thursday, 6 July 2023 00:37 (three years ago)

I'd like to hear Johnny Cash singing "There's More to Life Than This".

Halfway there but for you, Thursday, 6 July 2023 14:52 (three years ago)

I had a roommate who spent one Saturday afternoon reading Siddhartha from start-to-finish while listening to "Babyface" on repeat the ENTIRE time. Pretty sure he was stoned out of his mind.

birdistheword, Thursday, 6 July 2023 17:35 (three years ago)

the best anecdote I've ever heard

the dreaded dependent claus (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 6 July 2023 17:47 (three years ago)

the best thing about There’s More To Life is the sardonic bassline, like, you could remove the vocal and the bass is still gonna say “wtf are you doing here”

scanner darkly, Saturday, 8 July 2023 03:55 (three years ago)

I miss 90s Björk so much

✖✖✖ (Moka), Saturday, 8 July 2023 05:20 (three years ago)

Also agree with the notion that this is the best U2 era. Every other era feels too self-important for me to really get into. This and Passengers - which are sort of the same era in my mind - are the two U2 projects I like.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Saturday, 8 July 2023 05:24 (three years ago)

I don’t think I’m familiar with Smog, might need to listen to that one.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Saturday, 8 July 2023 05:25 (three years ago)

Zooropa:
The most fashionable album by the most unfashionable band

✖✖✖ (Moka), Saturday, 8 July 2023 05:28 (three years ago)

smog aka bill callahan is good, but yeah no real comparison among these three

i have no idea what ILM would consider the best smog/callahan record

maybe red apple falls?

mookieproof, Saturday, 8 July 2023 05:32 (three years ago)

would never straight-up gainsay that baritone tho
