Hopefully I didn't miss anything. I've been working on this list for a while, I've even got good release date information for everything except "Jenny Ondioline", which came out either in August or December 1993 - online sources disagree. Anyone know for sure?

Captain Easychord - absolutely incredible, Long Life Love pointed to great directions for Mary, that never got to he followed, and if course, Moodles!

Flourescences, which I feel like will run away with this poll. Would've voted for The First of the Microbe Hunters but I guess that's a mini-album. A lot of the songs on there are here on other singles, but none of them have "Outer Bongolia."

Man, I loved that Jenny Ondioline ten-inch with Fruition and Golden Ball and French Disko!

Another vote for Fluorescences here but the Captain Easychord EP is a close second (had it included the full version of the title track it would've been my pick).

Going to take a bit to decide. Wish I still had some of these EPs; I check Ebay for vinyl copies now and again but they're never cheap. I never really liked how Oscillons jumbled the tracks from the Elektra-era ones. Fluorescences would seem like the default but "Brigitte," on Cybelle's Reverie, is sometimes my favorite Stereolab song. Love "Allures" as well.

Yeah, it works but I prefer the original context as well, so I just compiled all the tracks I listed above. Over 6 hours! Going to give it a listen straight through over the next day or two.

Such a great song, and a shame it never ended up on a proper album. the Oscillons comp came out 9 years after the Fluorescences EP? it's such a great song, and I don't necessarily think it would've been a hit, but if it were on ETK I'm positive it'd be as well known as Cybele and Les-Yper. Though it wasn't part of those sessions right, it was recorded later in 1996?

No, it's there. The tour singles are some of my favorite stuff.

So, how much of this stuff remains uncompiled?

Uncompiled: Low Fi, The In Sound, The Underground is Coming, and everything after Captain Easychord. And ABC (The Multitude) was only on the Japanese edition of Aluminum Tunes.

The In Sound tracks are all found on "Aluminum Tunes", just retitled. I guess they changed the names between releasing the EP and AT.

I don't know why I've thought this whole time that Oscillons from the Anti-Sun was a best of set.

There's also "Blaue Milch" on this, but I think that's unrelated to the Cobra & Phases "Blue Milk" or "Munich Madness"?

Right, completely different track.

I listened to everything in order - something I've never done before. I fell in love with the krautrock of "Jenny Ondioline" (which is too short no matter show long it is) and bailed around "Cobra" when the French pop overtook the German rock. At their best, Stereolab is combining a terrific groove with lots of odd and interesting sounds - "Soop Groove" is one of the high points of what I mean. I like the title track to "Captain Easychord" but the rest of the EP is sort of goopy to me, and "Instant 0" is about half good. The tour singles are generally good with "Solar Throw Away" being the high point. But, man, everything through "The Free Design" is just so great, almost nothing I wouldn't listen to on repeat.

This is like voting for your favourite child.

But OK, The Free Design wins as (a) Cobra era = peak Stereolab and (b) the quality is evenly high across all the songs, while covering a lot of ground stylistically.

Runners up: Super-Electric cos that's where I came in; and Rose because dual mono rules and it contains Laetitia's best lyrics.
