i think the black dice record is great ... here's the little review that i wrote for my site:

# black dice “beaches and canyons” (dfa)

i can't get enough of this record. it is relentlessly inventive and resolutely experimental, but somehow all of black dice's bizarre aesthetic leanings coalesce into a very engrossing and approachable whole. if you liked the boredoms' propulsive breakthrough “vision creation newsun” but found its “guitar rock”-isms a bit too overt, this is the record for you. rest assured, the aura surrounding “beaches and canyons” is equally as cosmic: black dice infuse their arty noise trips with pastoral, spacious, unintentional beauty.
