Recently checked out their new album Yolk In The Fur, it's a gorgeously expansive record--finds a middle ground between War on Drugs, Wilco, and Kozelek's first few Sun Kil Moon records, but manages to be a lot less portentous than any of those three. I never thought I'd need another band like this, but plaintive melodies and the massive heartland synth aesthetic won me over. Their first album is much more of a slowcore record, but those influences still seep through the lead singer's voice in the second record, even though the band's sound has moved on. Check it out.

new album is very pretty, especially the stunning "track mud," but i'm sensing i'm gonna need a couple more listens for the individual songs to sink in. for now, i'm appreciating the gently-soothing early spring vibes.

the new album is pretty good! grandaddy vibes def coming through again, but i think they are more apt this time. it's noisier and weirder than their past efforts, and the guitars sound excellent
