I wonder what is the percentage of these songs their makers have at some point denied being "about drugs". Quite high (haha) I should think.

Would've put Higher than the Sun at number one myself.

Other tracks they missed off the 100 include 'Junko Partner' by Dr John (though they've got another version of it) and, if you're including booze, 'White Lightning' by George Jones (and The Fall).

(did anyone else see the doomed-drug-cycle-canon piece in vanity fair's music issue? that was plain awful. mojo may be nostalgia hounds but the vf staff one-up them by apparently never having heard any music by anyone ever. i liked tosches's warner history though.)

Black Money White Powder is easily the best drug related track. The breakdown with the cutting/sniffing sounds and the whispered You can hear the music louder...with the forces of white powder is priceless.

jimi tenor "total devistation". every monster magnet, fu manchu and kyuss song. and any song that has no lyrics, it's safe to asume is inspired by drugs. sublime also had a few.
