House / Techno producers doing Rock songs

This seemed to be a thing in the mid to late 00's. While rock bands were trying to incorporate dance/electronic elements in their music producers/djs from a House / Techno background were grabbing up guitars to do a rock song or a 'rock' sounding song. I want to know more about it. I have a feeling this trend started in France but I'm not sure.

Martin Solveig - Everybody

He has a couple of 'rock' songs from around this era, I thought this was a Lenny Kravitz song the first time I heard it.

Felix Da Housecat - What Does It Feel Like?

Samples the bass and guitars from a Vanity6 song (a Prince project), sounds like punk-chic driven by ennui.

In Flagranti - Pick a Trick

Vocalist sounds like she's trying to channel Karen O's vocals at chorus.

Playgroup - Make it Happen

Alex Gopher - Brain Leech

I'm not sure if he has any other single that sounds like this. This sounds like a New Order clone.

Soulwax probably belongs in this lot but I've no idea if they're more of a rock band or electronic producers.

These all sounds like ad-music to me. I feel like they're trying to sell me something... like perfumes or ipods or cars.

I don't know if this fits squarely in the category you're trying to assemble, but I always loved that Rinôçérôse made a full on attempt at copping Bon Scott-era AC/DC that one time.

Yeah Rinocerose definitely qualifies. They started as a house duo, progressively adding guitars into their sound and practically turned into a rock band in their last albums.

Very different to the above, but I was listening to Vakula's 'Dedicated to Jim Morrison' earlier today which he recorded with a full band. I think DJ Harvey has also recorded more psychedelic-rock inspired stuff with bands, too.

all super cheesy but fondly nostalgic

if I was to make a mix of this stuff I'd struggle not to include Juliet's "Avalon" and Rogue Traders "Voodoo Child" even though they're coming at it from the other side of the equation

anything by black strobe would definitely fit the threads requirements, and they were French.

also, the much derided apollo440 started off electronica and added more and more of a rock band set up as time went on, but they were a very commercial/advert friendly set up.

another techno producer who went rock : t. raumschmiere.
his albums on mute were a full on mix of electro/techno/industrial.
however, he has gone back to his ambient/techno mode with his latest album on KOMPAKT.

Wow at that oakenfold feat. Brittany murphy song. I had no idea that one existed.

Not a straight house or techno producer but I guess Aphex Twin’s come to daddy could be considered here too.

Flashdance was one of the songs I was going to post and forgot about.
